Annual report created by Dorothy Eden, Principal of the Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing for the hospital's Board of Directors. Also included in the file in statistical information about nursing exams and how Wellesley fairs versus Ontario as a whole.
File contains memos and correspondence regarding The Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing affiliation with the Red Cross Outpost hospitals. This agreement allowed 3rd year nursing students to gain experience interning at the Red Lake Outpost Hospital in Red Lake Ontario - located Northwest of Sudbury, about 100 kilometers from the Ontario-Manitoba border. The Wellesley School ended it affiliation with the program in 1971.
File contains three photographs. Topics include an early outdoor event on hospital grounds, Dorothy Eden and Dorothy Arnot addressing a group on a tour of the hospital, and a group of student nurses walking through the hospital corridor singing.
Wood handled brick and block cement trowel. Trowel used by Ontario Premier John Robarts during the 1965 cornerstone laying for what would be named "The Turner Wing" of The Wellesley Hospital. The Turner wing opened in 1967.
H. K. Porter Company (Canada) Ltd. - Disston division
A photocopy of Bill 102 - an act respecting the Toronto General Hospital and The Wellesley Hospital. The act separated the two hospitals (which had amalgamated in 1948), leaving The Wellesley an independent institution once again. The first reading of the bill was March 11, the second March 21, and the final March 24.
The Toronto General Hospital. On August 25, 1948, The Wellesley Hospital amalgamated with Toronto General Hospital - becoming the Wellesley Division of Toronto General Hospital. They would remain that way until 1960, when Wellesley became an independent hospital once again. Series contains materials relating to the Toronto General Hospital, and to its amalgamation with The Wellesley.
File contains meeting minutes and accompanying materials for the Board of Directors, the Public Relations Committee, and the Finance Committee of The Wellesley Hospital. All date from 1984.
File contains information on the consolidation of Hospital Nursing Schools into Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. The majority of the material relates to agreements between Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and The Wellesley Hospital regarding the use of hospital space for student nursing clinical experience. Included in the file are draft and final agreements between Ryerson's Board of Governors and The Wellesley Hospital's Board of Governors; correspondence, and draft agreements from other institutions. Also in the file is a copy of the Province of Ontario's guidelines for the transition of diploma nursing education into Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, and correspondence regarding the Nursing Task Force.
The Nursing Task Force at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute was organized in response to the January 1973 memorandum regarding the integration of Hospital School's of Nursing into Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. The task force formed in July of 1973. Ryerson Vice President Administration George Korey was the chairman and was composted of representatives all institutions involved. It's purpose was to guide the integration of the nursing schools from The Wellesley Hospital, Sick Children's Hospital, and Women's College Hospital into Ryerson's nursing program. Three working committees were established: Committee on Curriculum and Clinical Facilities; Committee on Teacher-student Affairs and Internal Resources; and Administrative and Finance Committee all overseen by an executive committee. File contains a copy of the final report of the task force published in January of 1974, and one copy of appendix f - Nursing Task Force meeting minutes.

File of correspondence between The Wellesley Hospital's Executive Director G. E. Thornton and Ontario's Minister of Health A. B. R. Lawrence, and between A. B. R. Lawrence and Donald MacIntyre, president of the Ontario Council of Administrators of Teaching Hospitals.
Series contains correspondence, reports and associated materials relating to the transfer of Schools of Nursing from the Hospitals to the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. The majority of the materials relate specifically to the transfer of The Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing to Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.
One menu card for The Wellesley Hospital 30th Anniversary Reunion held at The Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Card in white, one fold, with an image of the hotel embossed on the front with a gold sticker "30".
The Edmund C. Bovey Lithotripsy Unit officially opened at The Wellesley Hospital on Tuesday January 19, 1988. The unit was a University of Toronto program being run at The Wellesley. File contains a Wellesley Hospital folder. Inside the folder are two brochures and a two page informational packet about the lithotripsy machine. Also in the folder is an invitation to the opening.
File contains programs for the Hospital's 25 year club celebrations. First introduced in 1969, the dinner has been held almost every year since then. Included are two programs from the May 9, 1988 dinner held at the Four Season's Hotel, one from the May 4, 1993 event also held at the Four Season's hotel, and one from the September 30, 1997 dinner held at The King Edward Hotel.
The committee, consisting of members from both the Wellesley Hospital and the Department of Nursing at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, studied a pilot project "The Buddy System" in The Wellesley Hospital's Medical-Surgical units. The project paired new graduates with a mentor. The project lasted 6 months.
Series contains photographs associated with The Wellesley Hospital. Many of them were taken by the hospital's public relations department and published in Wellesley World and other hospital publications. Files include staff members, nursing, education, events, equipment, and facilities.
One copy of "Survival Strategies" edited by David Goyette, Dennis William Magill, and Jeff Denis. Book is about The Wellesley Central (formerly The Wellesley) Hospital.
File contain two copies of "Research at the Wellesley". Publication is created twice a year for the Governors Circle and friends of The Wellesley Hospital Research Institute.
One copy of the first "Merger Talks" newsletter. The newsletter was created to provide information to Wellesley and Sunnybrook staff regarding the proposed merger of The Wellesley Hospital and the Sunnybrook Medical Centre.

The 75th anniversary of the founding of The Wellesley Hospital was celebrated with various events held over the summer of 1987. On June 7 The Wellesley had a SUNday at Woodbine Racetrack, raising $70,000 for the hospital. On July 11, 800 members of The Wellesley Hospital staff and their families had a picnic at Earl Bales Park. On August 27 there was a 75th anniversary Garden Party on the hospital grounds with a 1912 theme - the year the hospital officially opened. A plaque honouring hospital founder Dr. Herbert Bruce was unveiled. The file contains a 75th anniversary commemorative sticker, and a copy of the invitation sent to alumnae inviting them to the Garden Party.
The 60th anniversary of the founding of The Wellesley Hospital and The Wellesley Hospital Alumnae Association's celebrations were held September 6 - 8, 1972. Events included tours of the Hospital and a garden party on hospital grounds, class of 1972 graduation exercises, and dinner at the Royal York Hotel. File contains 2 souvenir booklets, 1 programme from the Diamond Anniversary banquet, correspondence regarding the events, and a b&w transparency of Helen Carruthers' (class of 1916) article from the souvenir booklet.
The 50th anniversary of the founding of The Wellesley Hospital and The Wellesley Hospital Alumnae Association's celebrations were held June 6 - 8, 1962. Events included a garden party at Casa Loma, the School of Nursing's graduation ceremony, tours of the hospital and residence, and dinner at the Royal York Hotel. The file includes two souvenir booklets.
The 25th anniversary of the founding of The Wellesley Hospital and The Wellesley Hospital Alumnae Association's celebrations were held June 28 - July 2, 1937. Events included a luncheon at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, bridge and dance at the Royal York Hotel, a banquet at the King Edward Hotel, a reception at Government House hosted by Lieutenant-Governor Herbert Bruce (hospital founder), Class of 1937 graduation exercises, and a picnic and swimming at Dr. R. J. MacMillan's farm. The file includes one souvenir booklet, two reunion banquet programmes, and an invitation to the reception hosted by Herbert and Angela Bruce at Government House. There is also a 16mm film of the Hospital's Anniversary activities.

Photograph of Elsie K. (Jones) LaVenture in a wheelchair seated beside another woman who is holding a cane. They are holding hands with another woman - possibly Mrs. M. S. Roberts (Jeanette Simpson), class of 1915 graduate. Both women are holding 60th anniversary programmes. Photograph most likely taken at the Royal York Hotel at the dinner held to cap off the 60th Anniversary week of events. Elsie K. Jones was Wellesley class of 1925 graduate and started working at the Wellesley in 1928. She held the role of Director of Nursing at Wellesley from 1937-1964. She married Cye A. LaVenture after her retirement. Elsie K. passed away October 4, 1972, less than a month after this photograph was taken.
File contains photographs taken at various events celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Wellesley Hospital held September 6th-8th. Events organized and run my the Alumnae included the garden party held on the hospital grounds, tours of the hospital and a dinner held at the Royal York. Several of the photographs have names written on back in pen.

Brown vinyl covered photograph album with self stick pages. Photographs include those about the opening of the hospital, the building, Nurses, and several from the 60th Anniversary of the Hospital and the visit by the Duke and Duchess of Wellington for the anniversary.
Three ring binder with plastic pages filled with scrapbook pages. Appears that the orginal scrapbook was taken apart and placed in the plastic sleeves. Filled with newspaper clippings, correspondence, cards, programmes, and photographs covering Grace Bolton's history with the Wellesley, the history of the Nursing school, the Hospital, and the Alumnae activities during World War II and beyond. Scrapbook is not completely in order - First several pages are out of order followed by pages starting in 1933, when Grace Bolton graduated from the Wellesley. The pages are in order by year after this until the end when there was a single plastic sleeve filled with many items place together. Starting with letter from a School in the United Kingdom, these items have each been given their own sleeve. The majority of the pages are double sided - with items on both sides of the page.
Series contains scrapbooks and photograph albums created and maintained by Grace Farthing (Bolton). The books are both personal - documenting her patients and work, and work-related - Wellesley Hospital and Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association.

Series contains artifacts created and/or used by the Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association. Included are silver tea sets and coffee urns, a shovel used in the sod turning for the nurses residence in 1951 and later gifted to the Alumnae Assocation, and an embossing die used for printing.
The Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association was created in 1915 after the graduation of its first class of 10 graduates. The sous-fonds contains materials created by the Alumnae Association and its executive or by members. Included are photographs, scrapbooks, artifacts, audio-visual materials, newsletters and other items that document the Alumnae Association, its activities, and its members.
