Archives Accession Registry

This series contains the Archives' original accession registries. The original hard copies were stored in binders and kept in the Archivist's office. When the Archives database was transferred into a new system in 2018 the accessioning process was moved completely online.

Departmental Records Inventory

This file contains information regarding Ryerson Records Inventory Project, and template inventory form. It also also includes the completed inventory.

Ryerson Archives letterhead

The file contains samples of two letterhead styles used by the Ryerson Archives. The letterheads have no date of use, but estimates are inferred based on the start date of the Archives (1971) and the university’s name change to Ryerson University (2002).

Photographs of the Ryerson Archives

File contains photographs taken by the Ryerson Media Centre for Library Orientation purposes. In the photographs the Archives is located on the 5th floor of the library. Included are photographs of the collection, the work area, and Archives staff.

Documentation and arrangement - exhibits and displays

File contains:
RG 149.09.01 Library, 1982

RG 149.09.02 Homecoming, 1983, 2000-2016 Working files documenting the Archives' participation in the University's annual Homecoming event. As of 2007, the name Homecoming was changed to Alumni Weekend.

RG 149.09.03 Bicentennial, 1984 - includes model in reading room. The scale model was researched and constructed by Architecture students under the supervision of the faculty member, Bob Greenberg. The model was a highlight of the Ryerson Archives’ Ontario Bicentennial display held in the Olive Baker Lounge in October, 1984. From 1980 to 1995, the model was on display in the lobby of the 13th floor in Jorgenson Hall. The model was removed to the Archives in January, 1995, while the display case/unit and the ‘landscaping base’ were sent to the School of Architecture. The latter was transferred to the Archives in March, 1996.

RG 149.09.11 Superbuild display, 2003 Thirteen foam core posters produced to be shown together as a display celebrating the history and future of Ryerson. Panels detail various eras in Ryerson's history. Also includes a small amount of textual records (correspondence, notes) detailing the City hall super build display

Crime Writers Of Canada Collection

This file contains correspondence, clippings regarding the transfer of the Crime Writers of Canada collection to the Toronto Public Library - Metropolitan Reference library.

Archives signs

File contains two formerly used library signs. The first says "Ryerson Polytechnical Institute Archives. The second says "Entrance to Library, Jorgenson Hall, Archives located on 3rd".

Archives Move To Third Floor

File contains records related to space planning and the move of the Archives to the 3rd floor of the library that took place in May of 1996.

Ryerson 50th Anniversary

This is a working file, which was maintained by the Archivist, on the Archives' involvement in Ryerson's 50th Anniversary celebrations and events in 1998. It includes, among other things, information and documentation on the Ryerson History project, the Board of Governors Reception held in the Archives, the Open House/Homecoming Day in October and the "50th Memories" photographic feature which appeared in FORUM.

Archives And The Library Committee

This file contains "Ryerson Library Committee-Terms of Reference", and agenda/ minutes of the Learning Resource Committee meeting, held on Jan.25, 1983. Archivist was appointed a member of Learning Resource Committee at this meeting.

Ryerson Archives website

The file consists of correspondence related to the development of the Archives' first website as well as Ryerson history articles and sources for web links to related history websites. A completely new and updated website was developed in 2010 with the first being scrubbed.

The documentation in the file is primarily that of the first website.

Senior directors presentation - Archives business case

This file consists of two elements. One is a presentation by the University Archivist to a Senior Directors' meeting on the Archives and Records Management Program. The other is a business case prepared by the Archivist on "Additional Staffing Resources", which ensued from the Senior Directors's meeting.

3/4 Inch archival videotape to DVD conversion project documentation

This file consists of textual records including: manuals, and correspondence related to a project to convert the archives' collection of 3/4 inch videotape to dvd using Pinnacle Studio software. The file also contains five CD Roms which contain the Pinnacle Studio software that was used in the project.
