It was probably meant for a larger, possibly cabinet card mount, but the woman's style of dress is still close in date to the mount style, about mid-1880s.

Photographs depict primarily family and mothers with children. Some also show plays being put on in a yard by the family, farms, and archery. They are all family snapshots taken mostly around the home.
