R.P.I. Beanie

This beanie would have been worn by a first year student during Initiation when Frosh were required to perform acts, such as shine shoes or sing at the command of other students and often in costume.

The Wizard of Oz script with lighting cues

This file contains the script of The Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum, adapted by Frank Gabrielson, with the music and lyrics of the screen version by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. Hand written lighting cues by David Priddle (Chemistry 1967).

"Peter Pan" ROW production

The file consists of the original 16 mm film re. the 1969 ROW production of 'Peter Pan'. The film rolls were screened on equipment available in the School of Image Arts technical department.

FILMS :
For identification purposes the film cans were labelled A and B. Based on the technician’s evaluation and expertise, only the A film was transferred onto two videocassettes. The B film requires more specialized equipment not available in the School of Image Arts.

Two videocassettes, copies of the 16 mm film, can A.

Ryerson Opera Workshop

The fonds consists of records pertaining to the operetta, Ryerson Opera Workshop, otherwise dubbed ROW, including programmes, notices and advertisements, newspaper articles and reviews, and a 1967 audio tape from The Wizard of Oz.

Established in 1951 by Jack McAllister, at the time faculty in the English Department, and in the continuing role of director-in-chief, the Workshop was an institute-wide, student endeavour from production crew to cast members.

Financial upsets were occasionally felt, with no Workshop performed usually because the Student Administrative Council felt it could not support the show.

Towards the Establishment of Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedures at Ryerson

File contains 2 copies of the report "Towards the Establishment of Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedures at Ryerson" authored by Rosemarie Volpe of the Counselling Centre and Ann Elizabeth Davy, a 4th year Social Work student. The report was created at the request of then President Brian Segal and endorsed by PACOW (President's Advisory Committee on Women). The report was distributed to the Ryerson Community for feed back, as a first step in establishing formal institutional policy and procedures.

Ryerson Music Series

The Ryerson Music Series - Interdisciplinary Perspecitives was created by Prof. Kim Chow-Morris in 2008 as a way to "connect faculty, students, staff, and community members from diverse disciplinary perspectives with interest and research backgrounds in music, [to] learn from and diaolouge with each other..." Dr. Kim Chow-Morris spoke with "faculty members across Ryerson whose research and creative work focused on or incorporated music or sound". The first session was a musical concert put on by musical faculty members called Music Cafe and held in Oakham House in September 2008 and the other session of the 2008 / 2009 academic year were Ryerson faculty from Music, History, Psychology, and Early Childhood Education. The second year brough Professor David Lidov from York University. Audiences have been from Physics, Journalism, and others.

Bachelor of arts degree project

A collection of loose documents and records pertaining to the possible creation of a Bachelor of Arts Degree Program at Ryerson and the committee(s) established to examine this issue.
The activities described in this material presumably led to the formation of a B.A. in Arts and Contemporary Studies, first offered in the Fall of 2003. Items found in this sub-series include: a discussion paper; a mission statement; e-mail messages; a copy of the Ryerson Act; several reports; computer Web site printouts and photocopies relating to programs at Toronto Area community colleges and British universities; and a document from the Vice President Academic entitled, "The Development, Review and Approval of New Undergraduate Degree Programs".The contents of this collection record were reorganized and arranged in chronological order.
