Copy of memo and accompanying slides relating to the slide presentation for the Cabinet Committee. Slides contain information on the impact of governmental legislation and policy on Indian Rights.

File of newspaper and magazine clippings, the majority of which relate to Brian Mulroney's stepping down as Prime Minister. Also in the file is a copy of the Constitution of the National Progressive Conservative Aboriginal Caucus (1985).

File contains a copy of the Canadian Government's Treasury Board on the Devolution plan proposed by the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development. The Devolution plan entailed "transfer of programs and service delivery to Indian Bands and other Indian Organizations".

File contains records relating to the Sechelt Indian Band and the Government of Canada. Included in the folder are correspondence regarding the Sechelt Band Comprehensive Claim; a copy of "A Practical Proposal for Resolving the Indian Land Claim in British Columbia as it Affects The Sechelt Indian Band" by the Sechelt Indian Band Council; 2 copies of the Sechelt Indian Band act; a copy of a Communique from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada regarding the renewal of federal self-government funding to the Sechelt Indian Band.

Included in the file are: 2 copies of draft #3 "The Indian Act - proposed revision" November, 1967; 2 copies of the white paper; Letter/report from the Assistant Deputy Minister (Indian Consulation and Negotiation) to the Deputy Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development; Memorandum re: meeting held in 1971 between Prime Minister Trudeau, cabinet members, Chiefs and members at large of the Canadian Aboriginal communities regarding the Indian White paper and Red paper.

Federal-Provincial & Indians pt. 2

File contains correspondence, memorandums, and agreements in regards to the assignment of lands and natural resources in Alberta and Manitoba between the Federal and Provincial governments. Also in the file is a copy of the proceedings of the Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Commons on Indian Affairs held May 16, 1961, and a 2 page information sheet on Federal-Provincial responsibility for Indians.

For Seven Generations - An information Legacy of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples

The Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples released a CD-ROM containing the records for the hearings, and reports created by the Commission. In 2016, for the 20th anniversary of the reports release, a database was created containing all the original CD-ROM materials plus expanded content including over 18000 photographs. The fonds contains records created by Peter Di Gangi (Sicani Research), containing research related to Indigenous governance in Canada. The content includes published and unpublished materials and topics include: policy and research papers on Indigenous law and policy, federal government reports and statistics, Ontario government reports and statistics (focused on northern and northwestern Ontario), draft reports and intervenor submissions prepared for the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples (RCAP), Assembly of First Nations reports and committee kits, records from the Centre for Treaty Advocacy, policy papers on federal legislation and the Indian Act, social programs, taxation, lands, various court cases and decisions with analyses, materials on the evolution of federal Claims policy and efforts at reform, some material related to United States Indian policy and treaties.

The fonds has been divided into series by box (35 in total) and further divided into files and items. The series, file, and item titles were provided by the donor (with some exceptions).

Names and terminology used in the scope and content field reflect the names and terminology used in the files and on the items and is often outdated and out of use. (i.e. Department of Indian Affairs (DIA); Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations). Every attempt has been made to utilize the current names in the creator and access points fields in the records (i. e. Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC); Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN).
