The ISTC Simulated Client Program began in 1990 using trained simulators from the McMaster University Standardized Patient Program. In 1993, the Centre itself was established at Ryerson and began recruiting and training a roster of simulators (actors) and developing simulation scenarios independently.

The information package was assembled for and donated in April 2009 to the Archives at the request of Archives' staff for information on their program. It consists of pamphlets, handouts, and a DVD given to new clients. Also included is a research study report [ca. 2008].
