Series contains materials relating to the students in Ryerson's Hospitality programs. Included are student work, student led initiatives, student organizations, and other materials.

Fonds contains materials relating to all aspects of the Hospitality program at Ryerson. There are materials from the beginning of the program in 1951 and every decade since its inception but the majority of the materials date from 1970s and 1980s. Included are objects, photographs, audio-visual materials, graphic and textual materials.

Ryer's Inn was organized and presented by students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program. It was modeled after the Cornell University event "Ezra Cornell Hotel". Its purpose was to show members of the Hospitality Industry what Ryerson's program had to offer by showcasing its' students. The event is completely organized and executed by student's in the program, with faculty supervision. It's inaugural night was held February 28, 1981. Series contains information about Ryer's Inn galas held in 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1985.

Sub-series consists of materials related to the inaugural Ryer's Inn held February 28, 1981. Included are photographs of the event and a commemorative shot glass.

A file of photographs taken during the Ryer's Inn 1981 Klondike Daze event. Photographs include the valet, dancing girls and band, food tables, entertainers, black jack tables, an aerial shot of the dining area, and one of the students working the event.

Sub-series contains materials created for the 3rd annual Ryer's Inn - "An Evening of Southern Hospitality" held February 26, 1983. Included are videotapes of the night's activities, press kits, a programme, and photographs and printed materials regarding previous years' events.

File contains materials related to the 3rd annual Ryer's Inn gala - "An Evening of Southern Hospitality". Included in the file are two press packages - sent to the Ryerson Forum and the Ryerson Rambler. The packages include information about the past two events, photographs from the 1982 event, a letter to the recipient, and a page explaining the event. Also in the file are a programme from the event, a proposed menu, a list of donors, and a survey.

The annual Ryer's Inn gala was held March 3, 1984 and was called "Murder on the Ryer's Inn Express". Included in the file are two different press packages that include photographs and information about past Ryer's Inns' , press information, event information, and photographs. Also in the file is a menu from the "trial run" of the evening held January 19, 1984, and a sample invitation and RSVP card.

The 5th annual Ryer's Inn - The Classics was held March 2, 1985. Included in the file is a press kit which includes information on the current and past Ryer's Inn galas, and a "Prelude to the Classics" menu from January 18, 1985.

Series contains photographs relating to the School of Hospitality. Included are photographs of staff, students, events, locations, and visitors.

File contains black and white photographs showing students, items, and places in related to Ryerson's Hospitality program. Included are dining room scenes, kitchen scenes, library scenes, and photos of the Howard Kerr Hall quadrangle.

File contains black and white photographs of faculty and staff from Hospitality. Included are images of Dave Darker, David Worton, George Davidson, George Slavinski, Hrayr Berberoglu, Collin Swindlehurst, and others.

File contains graduating class photographs from the classes of 1974, 1975, and 1976. The 1974 class was the first class to receive the Bachelor of Applied Arts degree at convocation.

An 8 x 10 black and white photograph of first year students in the Food Administration & Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Administration programs. Also in the photo are faculty and staff members, including the Director, Gladys Dobson. A number of individuals signed their names on the back of the print.

In September of 1972 Ryerson entered into an agreement with the Government of Canada, through the Canadian International Development Agency (C.I.D.A.) to provide technical and related assistance to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for the establishment of a hotel training school, and the training of the faculty and staff to run it.
Sub-series consists of 49 files relating to the establishment of a hotel training school on one of the islands and contain correspondence, agreements, minutes, reports, financial data, personnel records, clippings, background materials, curriculum documents, and photographs.

File contains drafts and copies of the agreements between Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and C.I.D.A. for the provision of technical and related assistance in establishing a hotel training school in Trinidad. Also in the file is a copy of the request report from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to the Government of Canada.

File contains 2 reports. One is a form for submitting report to be added to Ryerson's Annual Report for 1972-1973. The second is a more indepth 2 year report on the establishment and running of the Hotel School in Trinidad.

File contains 1 blank C.I.D.A. application to work at the Hotel School and accompanying envelope, and 2 applications for admission to the Trinidad and Tobago Hotel School.

File contains proposals, and planning reports regarding the establishment of the Hotel School and the hotel proposed to be used to house the School in Tobago.

File contains meeting minutes from the Board of Directors, Hotel Training School in Trinidad and Tobago. The early meetings were held in Port of Spain and the later ones in the Hotel School in Chaguaramas.

File contains materials related to Trinidad & Tobago's Industrial Development Corporation. Included in the file are brochures, a run of newsletters between July 1972-May 1974, and correspondence between Ryerson and the corporation.

File contains invoices for equipment, correspondence and drawings of the kitchen in the Trinidad & Tobago Hotel School.

The Trinidad and Tobago Hotel School opened officially on Monday May 14, 1973. In attendance from Ryerson were Dr. George Korey, Vice President Administration and acting Dean of Business; and Dr. H. H. Yates, Vice President Academic. The file contains newspaper articles, photographs, an explanation about "Capsule Programs" offered by the school, news releases, and other materials related to the Hotel School.

File contains reports and findings from George Korey's site visits to the Trinidad and Tobago Hotel School between 1972-1974. Also included in the file are his notes and other materials relating to the 28th annual conference on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education - "Dynergy 1973 - A mandate to shape the future". The conference was held in San Diego, California August 5-8, 1973.

File contains an organizational chart for the Trinidad and Tobago Hotel School and an outline for a "Employee motivation and attitude training" seminar.

File contains photographs of the buildings and people associated with the Trinidad and Tobago Hotel School. Included are photographs of the building's exterior, interior photographs of students, staff, kitchen, dining room, hotel rooms, and some that appear to be from the school's grand opening. Also in the file is a copy of "Canada Exchange" magazine, volume 2 number 2 published by the Canadian Bureau for International Education. This edition of the magazine has an article and photographs about Ryerson's involvement in the Trinidad and Tobago Hotel School.

The presentation was done by the Chairman of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management William F. Lougheed. Included in the presentation is a copy of Report #55 of the Academic Standards Committee, November 1983 which recommends that the changes be implemented.

File contains the request for approval to changes and revision to the Continuing Education certificates offered in Hospitality and Tourism Management. The certificates include Food and Beverage Services, Lodging Services, and Travel and Tourism Services.

File contains a draft copy of the Tourism Curriculum Project report looking at the faculty and industry surveys completed.

Series contains materials related to training facilities used by students of the Hospitality and Tourism (HTM) as part of their education. Included is information on the International Dining Room, the Delta Hotels-Sheraton Corporation Hotel Computer lab, and minimal information on HTM's involvement with the International Living Learning Centre. The materials have been arranged by facility.

Sub-series contains records related to Hospitality in conjunction with Ryerson's International Living Learning Centre.

File contains brochures advertising the various eateries, banquet, and catering services available at/through the International Living Learning Centre.

The International Dining Room was a facililty for third year hospitality students to demonstrate their management and culinary skills. The room was open September to May and served lunch, from various regions and countries, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. At times they served dinners, and morning snacks as well.
The sub-series contains memos, brochures, schedules, reports, and menus.

File contains a report regarding issues surrounding the inadequacy of the current International Dining Room facilities.

The schedules in this file are in the form of brochures, tables, and memos sent to faculty, staff, and students outlining the dates and cuisines.

The menus in this file reflect the types of international foods served in the dining room. Most menus were handcrafted by the students. Many are not dated.

The Hospitality and Tourism Delta Hotels-Sheraton Corporation Hotel Computer Training Laboratory was officially opened on November 12, 1981. The laboratory's purpose was front of house hotel training furnished with an identical computer system used by medium and large hotel chains. The lab was located in the old business building at 285 Victoria Street.
The sub-series contains newsclippings, press releases, and objects related to the training lab.

File contains a press release, invitation and photograph from the opening of the computer lab. Also in the file are news clippings and newsletter stories about the lab facilities.
