Series contains photographs associated with The Wellesley Hospital. Many of them were taken by the hospital's public relations department and published in Wellesley World and other hospital publications. Files include staff members, nursing, education, events, equipment, and facilities.

Sod turning for Nurses' residence

Photograph taken at the sod turning ceremony for the new nurses' residence. In the photograph are Dr. Herbert Bruce, Hospital founder; Nurse Patricia James, President of the Student Nurses' Association; Elsie K. Jones, Director of Nursing; Hiram McCallum, Toronto mayor; and Norman C. Urquhart, Chairman of the Board of Toronto General Hospital. Photograph is published in on page 74 of "The Lion's Tale" by Joan Hollobon.

Transfer of Schools of Nursing to Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology

Series contains correspondence, reports and associated materials relating to the transfer of Schools of Nursing from the Hospitals to the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. The majority of the materials relate specifically to the transfer of The Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing to Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.

Toronto General Hospital

The Toronto General Hospital. On August 25, 1948, The Wellesley Hospital amalgamated with Toronto General Hospital - becoming the Wellesley Division of Toronto General Hospital. They would remain that way until 1960, when Wellesley became an independent hospital once again.
Series contains materials relating to the Toronto General Hospital, and to its amalgamation with The Wellesley.

White and blue china soup bowl with attached plate and separate lid. Blue line and flower pattern around rim of plate, bowl and lid. The Wellesley Hospital coat of arms on one side of lid and bowl. Small handles on either side of bowl embellished with gold.

Mary Willmina Ferguson portrait

Photograph of Mary Willmina Ferguson. Born October 13, 1889 in Richards Falls, Ontario. She was a member of Wellesley's first graduating class in 1915. She signed up with Canada's overseas expeditionary force as a member of the Canadian Army Medical Corps on January 31st, 1916. She received a British War Medal, a Victory (Inter-allied) War Medal and 2 Mentioned in despatches oak leaf sprays for her service over seas.
Removed from the the back of the frame was a yellow piece of cardstock with information/dedication about Ferguson.

Miscellaneous

File contains three photographs. Topics include an early outdoor event on hospital grounds, Dorothy Eden and Dorothy Arnot addressing a group on a tour of the hospital, and a group of student nurses walking through the hospital corridor singing.

Re-organization of Hospital for Sick Children Nursing School

File contains meeting minutes from a Hospital for Sick Children meeting in response of the Lynch Report recommending that Nursing schools be moved out of the Hospitals and phased into post-secondary education institutions. Sent as a memo from the Principal of Wellesley's School of Nursing, to Hospital administrators.

The 1951 Wellesley Division -Toronto General Hospital report compiled by Elsie K. Jones, Superintendent of the School for the Department of Health, Nurse Registration division. Also included is the report written by Division Inspector regarding visits on January 22-25, 1951 to Wellesley.

Black and white photograph of members of the class of 1920 holding bouquets of roses and posing together. The photograph donated to Wellesley Hospital Archives in memory of a Wellesley graduate from the Class of 1922. Included in the file is the letter from the donor to the Wellesley Hospital, and a return letter from the Hospital to the donor.
