The Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association was created in 1915 after the graduation of its first class of 10 graduates.
The sous-fonds contains materials created by the Alumnae Association and its executive or by members. Included are photographs, scrapbooks, artifacts, audio-visual materials, newsletters and other items that document the Alumnae Association, its activities, and its members.

Series contains artifacts created and/or used by the Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association. Included are silver tea sets and coffee urns, a shovel used in the sod turning for the nurses residence in 1951 and later gifted to the Alumnae Assocation, and an embossing die used for printing.

Large ornate silver coffee urn with spigot. Embellished handles with pine cone lid grip. Engraved on one side "Presented to the Wellesley Hospital Alumnae by Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Bruce, June 1951". Dr. Herbert Bruce was the founder of the Wellesley Hospital and would go on to become the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario between 1932-1937.

Ornate silver teapot and stand. The teapot has attached lid and filagree all over the body of the pot. Four arms on pot sides to rest it on the stand. Teapot stand has ornate supports and an opening in its base for a candle to keep the tea warm.

Ornate silver plate teapot with wood [?] handle. Pot sits on 4 feet, and has a wide rounded body. Lid is attached by hinge and has pumpkin knob. Handle is dark brown wood [?] fit into silve sleeves attached to one side of teapot.

Wood handled garden spade with metal scoop. Was used in the ceremonial sod turning for the new Wellesley student nursing residence.
It has two plaques on handle. First one is stirling silver and says:
"Presented to The Honourable Dr. Herbert A. Bruce on the occasion of he turning of the first sod for the Nursing Residence Wellesley Division Toronto General Hospital November 5, 1951."
The second plaque is brass coloured and says:
"Donated to the Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association in recognition of their caring contribution to the people of Toronto and in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Wellesley Hospital Presented by Dean Emeritus, Susanne Williams, RN BNSc.Med Co-Chair, Wellesley Institute This 26th of May 2012."

The first part of the story, entitled "Doctor ruffled a lot of feathers and gave Toronto a hospital" was published January 5, 1980 and was clipped and saved on pages 4 and 5 of the scrapbook. The second part of the story, entitled "Dr. Bruce's report got Toronto started on slum clearance" was published on January 12, 1980 and was clipped and saved on pages 5 and 6 of the scrapbook.

Ross MacDonald and the Duchess of Wellington. The next couple is the Duke of Wellington and an unidentified woman. The third couple entering the ballroom is Angela Bruce, widow of Hospital founder Dr. Herbert. A. Bruce, and former Chairman of Wellesley's Board H. M. Turner.
The photograph was published in the Fall 1972 edition of the Wellesley World magazine and in the Wellesley Anniversary Review '72.

The visit was in honour of the Hospital's 60th Anniversary. The Hospital is named, in part, for the Duke and Dr. Herbert Bruce received permission from the previous Duke to use his coat of arms as the Hospital's coat of arms.
The photograph was published on the front cover of the Wellesley World Fall 1972 edition.

Three ring binder with plastic pages filled with scrapbook pages. Appears that the orginal scrapbook was taken apart and placed in the plastic sleeves. Filled with newspaper clippings, correspondence, cards, programmes, and photographs covering Grace Bolton's history with the Wellesley, the history of the Nursing school, the Hospital, and the Alumnae activities during World War II and beyond.
Scrapbook is not completely in order - First several pages are out of order followed by pages starting in 1933, when Grace Bolton graduated from the Wellesley. The pages are in order by year after this until the end when there was a single plastic sleeve filled with many items place together. Starting with letter from a School in the United Kingdom, these items have each been given their own sleeve. The majority of the pages are double sided - with items on both sides of the page.
