This collection contains Canadian cookbooks and textbooks with a focus on community created cookbooks, diet and nutrition cook books, high school textbooks, and food company cookbooks and pamphlets.

Cookbooks

Series contains published cookbooks, pamphlets, and magazines, including promotional recipe collections from food companies, community fundraising cookbooks, governmental publications, and textbooks. The books are catalogued and searchable on the library catalogue (https://library.torontomu.ca/).

The Food Bulletin

Item is a Canadian newsletter published by the Wartime Prices and Trade Board. The newsletter includes a ration coupon calendar for May 10th of 1943.

Elgie Ration Books

One green ration book (Book 2, belonged to John Albert Elgie) and one brown ration book (Book 4, belonged to Maggie Elgie). Each contains stamps for rationed items during World War Two. Book 2 describes items as Spare A, B or G, but in Book 4 these classes were replaced by descriptions of the actual items ie. Meat, Tea or Coffee. Some stamps are missing from each.

Great Canadian Beef Co. token

Item consists of a wooden disk with the logo of the Great Canadian Beef Co., formally located at 145 Mutual Street in Toronto. The token appears to be for a meal, with the value of $1.00 printed on the back of the token.
