Real Estate Educational Program

File contains calendars, brochures and related materials for the Real Estate Educational Program run through the Managment Development Institute. Program run with the Ontario Real Estate Association and in co-operation with the Real Estate Institute of Canada. After dissolution of MDI, the program continued to run through the Continuing Education division.

Eaton School of Retailing

Series contains planning records and published materials relating to the creation of the Eaton School of Retailing's partnership with Ryerson.
The Eaton School of Retailing was a corporate entity with the T. Eaton Company Ltd and delivered corporate education within the company. The partnership with Ryerson was away for them to develop and deliver university level courses to Eaton's employees. The first phase of the program was certificates in Retail and Services Management I and II.

Course Calendars and class schedules

File contains copies of the Evening Studies calendars, Extension Course calendars, and Continuing Education course calendars and class schedule bulletins. The final print version of the course calendar was for the 2018-2019 school year. The Chang School plans to continue publishing the class schedule bulletins.

LIFE Institute Office and Operations study

File contains report prepared by Andrea Kier, of AKG Consulting Inc. and LIFE Institute member, for the LIFE Institute Board of Directors. Purpose of report is to study the current office services, procedures, and deficiencies. Presented to the Board in September 2005.

"Telling Tales" by Kara Kuryllowicz

File contains memo from Dean of Continuing Education, to member other deans, v.p's and the president about at article written by Ryerson Journalism graduate Kara Kuryllowicz about the Recording Recollections group at Ryerson. The article was published in the January/February 1990 edition of GOOD TIMES magazine.

Recording Recollections publication

Short stories of memories by senior students. Once produced as a small publication two or three times per year, more recently as an more profession end-year publication. First offered in Continuing Education, the course was established and taught by Greta Wood until her retirement in 1996. The final publication was printed in 2015. The course is still offered, but the format changed and they no longer publish.

Oral History Interviews

File contains 36 LIFE Institute Oral History Interviews totaling 14.6 hours of interviews. The interviews were conducted by Fran Gruber and Geoff Arnold.
Also included are 9 cassettes containing programs related to Senior citizen education and social issues.

Shirley Shipman Memorial Lecture Announcements

The Shirley Shipman Memorial Lectures began in 2006 after the Shipman family established a fund in her memory to support an annual lecture series on topics of social justice and life long learning. Shirley Shipman was a founding member of the LIFE Institute and the co-chairperson of the curriculum committee.

Egerton Ryerson Day

File contains materials concerning the event held to celebrate Egerton Ryerson's birthday on March 24, 1992. Included are tickets, brochures, walking tour script, and a schedule of events. Event was co-ordinated by Cara Scott, of Oakham House, and Pam Hitchcock, of Senior Studies'.

Programs for the 50+

Under the LIFE Institutue, 50+ offers programs of a fun and of a serious nature for any senior 50 years of age and older who is a member of the LIFE Institute. A 50+ Festival is held in June.

Access program for multi-racial students enter Human Service fields

The program offered through Continuing Education at Ryerson was created jointly by Ryerson and the Access Action Council and was funded by the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities.

Perfect Bound magazine

Perfect Bound magazine was created to give the students in the magazine publishing certificate and other related courses an opportunity to put their study into practice. The Folio Magazine club was created in 2008 by Angela Walcott. It appears the last published copy of the magazine was created in 2010, and the last online version published in 2011.

Re-development of the certificate in Canadian Cross-Cultural Studies into a certificate in Race and Ethnocultural Relations

File contains correspondence, meeting minutes, a copy of the proposal, and a press package from the Ontario Government from a stakeholder's forum held by the Ministry of Education and Training about initiatives surrounding racial and ethnocultural equity and education.
