Nutrition & International Development - professional development workshop

This file contains materials related to a Nutrition and International Development workshop held at Ryerson, on June 30, 1984. Includes cassette with recording of proceedings and 2 notices about the workshop.

The workshop preceded the 9th International Congress of Dietetics, which was held in Toronto under the theme "Dietetics in the Global Village." The workshop was co-presented by CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) and the Canadian Home Economics Association.

Home Economics graduating class composites

VISTA - Information Film For Home Economics

16mm colour film produced at RPI by May Maskow, former chair, Home Economics, provides the viewer with general information about food & nutrition in the home and hospitals, fashion, presentation of products to the consumer and consumerism. Although the film was done mainly off-campus, there is an aerial view of Ryerson and a couple of scenes of Dodi Riva, faculty member, grocery shopping. c1970s

Opportunities for Youth Community Concern Project: audio

One reel to reel audio tape recording of unidentified students talking about their experiences while working with various groups of people (senior citizens, children & their mothers, multicultural groups) as part of a Community Concern Project. Students were involved with teaching crafts, setting up nutrition programs, designing clothing and other projects related to their Home Economics program at Ryerson.

Northern Studies Summer Project Northwest Territories 1985

File contains photographic slides and a videocassette related to the 1985 School of Nutrition summer project in the Northwest Territories. The photographic slides include shots of outdoor scenes, indigenous housing, people, classes and other miscellaneous scenes. It has not been determined whether any of the slides contain shots of any of the students participating in the project. The 30 minute videocassette with Jennifer Welsh, a faculty member and three students from the Nutrition, Consumer and Family Studies program talking about the students' experiences during their 1985 summer project. As part of a Northern Scientific Training Grant Program, five students spent the summer in the Northwest Territories interacting with the indigenous population about health, nutrition and family matters.
