Ryerson Today

Effective October 19, 2009 Ryerson Today - an e-publication put out by the Marketing and Communications department of University Advancement - will replace the current Forum Online (RG 395.6), President's Newsletter (RG 12.146), Campus News (RG 395.84), and Infoline (RG 395.22).
As of November 12, 2012 Ryerson Today established a new format and will no longer be printed for our collection as a whole. Pertinent newstories and letters from the President etc. will continue to be printed as they appear.

Photographic assignments

Series contains images taken by University Advancement photographers. They cover a wide range of subjects including campus events, staff and faculty portraits, donor receptions and building demolition and construction. A majority of the images were taken for the purpose of publication in the University Advancement publication "The Forum".

File contains images taken during the awards night event. Photographs are of the 2004 alumni achievement awards winners. Alumni achievement wall of fame

File contains images taken at an event unveiling Ryerson's alumni achievement Wall of Fame, located on the main level of Jorgenson Hall. Photographs include images of the wall and of the reception after the wall's unveiling. Photographs were taken on the day of the unveiling (May 28, 2001) as well as some taken two days previous (May 26, 2001).

Athletics luncheon

File contains images taken at a luncheon held to honour Ryerson's top athletes. Then Ryerson President Claude Lajeunesse is in the photographs as well.

File contains photographs of Ryerson Associate Director, Faculty Affairs and Marketing professor Ida Berger. Image was used in the Fall 2004 edition of "IMPACT" found in the "FORUM".

BOMA donation - signing ceremony

File contains photographs of the signing and ceremony of BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) donating $100,000.00 to create an annual awards program that assists four business management students each year.

File contains photographs of architect Mr. Santiago Calatrava. Mr. Calatrava proposed a design for the new Centre for Computing and Engineering. This project was never realized.

Irene Campagna

File contains photographs of Irene Campagna, assistant to the Dean of Business. The photographs were taken for the former Ryerson publication "FORUM" and were published in the December 2003 edition.

Christmas sing-a-long

File contains photographs taken during Ryerson's annual Christmas carol sing-a-long. Event takes place around tree in the front lobby of Jorgenson Hall. Pictures feature Santa Claus and various staff, faculty, and community members.

Continuing Education booth - Sheraton Hotel

File contains photographs of Continuing Education's booth at the Sheraton Hotel. Booth part of the University Continuing Education Association's annual conference. Pictured at the booth are the dean of Continuing Education Marilyn Booth; database and digital services administrator Thom Boivin; manager of marketing and publications Janet Hercz; and associate director Amy Casey. Booth won the association's gold award for excellence in marketing and publications and the New York Times best of show award. One of the pictures was published in the July 2002 FORUM.

Gordon Cressy farewell

File contains photographs taken during a farewell celebration for former Ryerson Vice President, University Advancement Gordon Cressy. Featured in the photos are then president Claude Lajeunesse, then Chancellor John Craig Eaton, and Gordon Cressy.

Electrical lab

File contains photographs of graduate students in the laboratory for electrical drive applications and research. People pictured are Electrical and Computer engineering graduate students Frank Chen and Michael Ma, and post-graduate fellow Samuel Wei. One of the pictures was published in the March 2003 edition of the FORUM.

Entrepreneur alumni night - Allan Slaight

File contains photographs taken at entreneur alumni night. Speaker was Allan Slaight of Slaight Communications. Mr. Slaight donated money to Ryerson University to support the Start Me Up Ryerson student business plan competition at the Ted Rogers School of Management.

File contains photographs taken during a Ryerson Town Hall community consultation on the future of Canada's foreign policy. Featured speaker was Bill Graham, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

High performance computing virtual laboratory (HPCVL) ceremony

File contains photographs taken of the opening of Ryerson's high performance computing virtual laboratory. Ryerson's lab is the Toronto nodule of a consortium of colleges and universities including Queen's University, Royal Military College, St. Lawrence College, Carlton University, University of Ottawa, Ryerson University, Seneca College, and Loyalist College. Computers donated by Sun Microsystems.

Home Economics, Class of 1952

File contains photographs of 9 members of the Ryerson Home Economics Class of 1952 and one of their instructors - Helen Wattie. Pictures taken during their 50th reunion held at the Inn on the Park on May 9, 2002. Picture from file featured in the September 2002 edition of the FORUM.

Interpersonal teaching skills centre

Rogers Communication Centre groundbreaking and opening

File contains photographs taken of the groundbreaking of the Rogers Communication Centre on November 15, 1989. Included in those images is Ryerson President Terry Grier and Ted and Loretta Rogers. Also in the file are photographs of the grand opening of the building on December 11, 1991. Included in those images are Ted and Loretta Rogers, Ryerson President Terry Grier, Board chair Isabel Bassett, Minister of Colleges and Universities Richard Allen, and Ted and Loretta's children Edward and Martha.

Ted Rogers' Donation

File contains photographs taken during the reception for Ted and Loretta Rogers in the Rogers Communication Centre. Reception held in honour of their $10 million leadership gift to establish the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Graduate School for Advanced Communication at Ryerson. The gift will endow 6 graduate fellowships and 2 research chairs. Included in the photographs are Ted and Loretta Rogers; Ryerson president Claude Lajeunesse; and artifacts to be placed in a time capsule. One of the images was published in the October 2000 edition of the FORUM.

Perry Schneiderman and Ziad Saghir

File of photographs of two Ryerson professors. Perry Schneiderman is a Theatre School faculty member and school chair, and Ziad Saghir is a Mechanical Engineering faculty member. Two of the photographs were published in the October 2000 edition of the FORUM.

File contains photographs of Ryerson Continuing Education Business program assistant Kate Sutton and an unidentified person. Photograph not used in FORUM - photograph of her winning the OPSEU Staff Star Award was used instead.

Tri-mentoring awards and office sign unveiling

File contains photographs taken at a ceremony involving Ryerson's Tri-mentoring program. There are also photographs of a sign unveiling for the Tri-mentoring office. The programme has a date of March 22, 2002 but the folder is dated April 9, 2002 - leaving an unclear date as to when the photographs were taken. Also the known people in the photographs are not listed anywhere in the programme.

Twenty-Five Year Club, 2003

File contains photographs of the reception inducting 16 new members into Ryerson's 25 year club. Included are group photographs of the inductees, one of which was published in the Feb. 2004 edition of the FORUM.
