Photographs for annual report, 1973-74

File also contains 1 mock up of the 1973-1974 Annual Report front cover. File contains photographs taken at Convocation and a dinner. Eight photographs are taken during the dinner at the Park Place Hotel. The Convocation photographs are taken in the Quad. Ryerson President Donald Mordell is in some of the photographs. One color photograph is also taken in the Quad.

What's Happening Around Ryerson / On Campus This Week

This circular provided the Ryerson Community with information on day-to-day events taking place on Campus. From 1971 to April 1977, the publication was called "What's Happening Around Ryerson" with the name changing to "On Campus This Week" on the September 2, 1977 issue. "On Campus This Week" was last published in 1986. As an alternative, a number of departments agreed to pool their resources to sponsor, on a non-profit basis, a weekly full-page listing of campus events in the student newspaper, THE EYEOPENER.

History of Ryerson film

The file contains the "History of Ryerson" film on three formats. The VHS copy was dubbed from the original 3/4 inch tape and was screened at Ryerson's Ontario Bicentennial display.

Photographs - oversized

File contains three black and white photographs of the Toronto Training and Re-Establishment Institute and of a class being held in the Normal School classroom that were displayed at the Bicentennial Display.

From Cradle to Computer books

File contains six copies of the book, "From Cradle to Computer, A history of St. James Square, the birthplace of Ontario education" written by Ryerson history professor, Ronald Stagg and published for Ontario's Bicentennial.

Ontario Bicentennial audio-visual presentation slide collection

File contains slides created from photographs and newspapers in the Ryerson Archives collection. Information services hired a student employee as a summer project. The slides were used in a five minute audio-visual presentation as part of Ryerson's Ontario bi-centennial project. There is no indication of what record groups the photographs were taken from.

Convocation and Awards Nights records

Records consists of convocation programmes, transcripts of speeches/addresses, photographs, invitations, cassette/reel-to-reel tapes, correspondence and miscellaneous related documentation.

During the 1950s, convocation preparations were arranged by a Convocation Committee. Academic Council assumed responsibility in the 1960s until early 1980s, when the Information Services Department took over.

November 1986 the Department of Community Relations was established, incorporating Information Services, thereby assuming the responsibility of Convocation arrangements until 1995 when University Advancement took over until 2007. In 2008 the Office of Convocation and Awards assumed responsibility.

Convocation 1950

File contains final and draft versions of programmes and speeches for Ryerson's first convocation ceremonies held in 1950. File also contains three photographic prints from the event. One photo is of "the Honourable Dana Porter, Minister of Education, making an address in the old Ryerson Hall." The second photo is of a student "receiving her diploma from Dr. F. S. Rutherford, Deputy Minister of Education, in old Ryerson Hall." The third photo includes the caption "Ryerson's First Convocation, 1950, Dr. F. S. Rutherford, Deputy Minister of Education, Presenting a diploma to Robert Barber.

The frame matting for the photographs was inscribed with "School of Photography 1950."

File contains correspondence, speeches, programmes, photographs and supporting memoranda relating to Ryerson's 1970 convocation ceremonies.

Convocation 1972

File contains speeches, photographs, correspondence, programmes and supporting memoranda relating to Ryerson's 1972 convocation ceremonies.

Convocation 1973

File contains speeches, photographs, correspondence, programmes and supporting memoranda relating to Ryerson's 1973 convocation ceremonies.

Convocation 1975

File contains speeches, correspondence, programmes and supporting memoranda relating to Ryerson's 1975 convocation ceremonies during which was the installation of President Walter Pitman on October 18, 1975.

File contains speeches, correspondence, programmes supporting memoranda and news clippings relating to Ryerson's 1977 convocation ceremonies.

File contains speeches, photographs, correspondence, programmes, newspaper clippings and supporting memoranda relating to Ryerson's 1979 convocation ceremonies.

Convocation 1980

File contains speeches, photographs, correspondence, programmes, newspaper clippings and supporting memoranda relating to Ryerson's 1980 convocation ceremonies during which was the installation of President Brian Segal on October 25, 1980.

Contacts booklet

This booklet is a guide to the subject expertise of Ryerson faculty. It contains 76 pages and is divided into three sections: alphabetical listings by topic, languages spoken and faculty name. "Contacts" was initiated by the President's Office under the direction of Gail Scott, Executive Coordinator, Community Relations and was produced with the assistance of John North, Director of the Learning Resources Centre. Until 1986 when the Department of Community Relations was established, the Information Services Department was responsible for the distribution and updating of future publications.(Information Services was incorporated into the Department of Community Relations.)

Annual reports and financial statements

Files contain copies of the annual report and audited financial statements for Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.
The annual reports are distributed across three record groups - dependent on which department was responsible for their printing. Their organization is as follows:

RG 395.17 1994-1996

After 1996 the university stopped publishing an annual report in this format.
