Stage props were placed in front of the actors and the scenes from the story were photographed. The slides were often hand tinted with colour and sold in boxes, along with a text to be used as a reading.In particular the temperance movement and political speakers used slides to convert a mass audience." The mansion was located on 1 West 57th Street in New York City and was built in 1883. Cornelius Vaderbilt II was an heir, socialite and businessman. The house was sold at the beginning of the First World War for seven million dollars.

Imprinted on the red filter metal holder is "Rolleifilter - hellrot, 999283." Imprinted on the front of the brown plastic case is "OMAG" and on the back is "3459, SWITZERLAND."
