The Amazon, Berlin

Handwritten in ink on wood frame "Amazon" the rest of the sticker has come off. Image is of an equestrian statue outside a building with columns. The statue is of a naked woman, holding a spear, sitting on a horse rearing up, with a lion latched to its throat. Cannot figure out which museum it's in front of in Berlin, Germany. Please note that the wood frame is a thicker cut than the others, and not a straight cut.

Bacharach, Germany

Image of the town of Bacharach, named for Bacchus, the ancient Roman god of wine, a medieval walled town only meters from the river's banks. The Rhine river once splashed up against the town's walls, but a landfill has been added to accommodate a road, train tracks and boat docks. In the image you can see the river, the spire of a church and rooftopes.

Research lead to the Capitoline Museums on Capitol Hill in Rome, Italy, but unsure if Capitol Museum is the same as Capitoline Museum.

It is an illustration representing the poem "Coming Thro' The Rye" by Robert Burns (1759-1796), composed 1796.

There's mountains around him, trees towering over him. The sky is blue with some clouds. Date based on research that shows Edward Van Altena's studio was active during 1890s-1910s. This series part of Life Model Slides. "The most popular slides in Victorian times were 'life model slides', which depicted popular sentimental stories of the day.The slides were produced by arranging actors in costume in front of a painted back drop. Stage props were placed in front of the actors and the scenes from the story were photographed. The slides were often hand tinted with colour and sold in boxes, along with a text to be used as a reading.In particular the temperance movement and political speakers used slides to convert a mass audience." In the BRC there's the numbers 99-218 printed on slide itself. More research shows that Joseph Hawkes worked in New York City and Brooklyn in the late 19th century, and he hand coloured slides. "He worked with the Brooklyn Museum's curator of fine arts, William Henry Goodyear, to reproduce images of archaeological and architectural sites in Europe as well as images of the Paris Exposition." This is how date was decided. There's a red and white sticker on the glass with a number 2 written inside. The image is of a mummified head, with neck. Nothing else.

Premo film pack adapter

4x5 film pack adapter for Premo camera. Metal and wood pack adapter. Inscription on side of wood "For Premo cameras." Premo cameras were manufactured by Rochester Optical and Camera company, which was bought out by Eastman Kodak in 1903. Date based on inscription: "Manufactured by Eastman Kodak Co. successor to Rochester Optical Co. Rochester, N.Y., U.S.A. Canada 25-03 British Pat. Apr. 21-03 France Pat. Apr. 18-03 German C.R.P. June 7 - 1905 U.S.A. Pat. May 19-03." (Eastman Kodak changed the name of the Rochester Optical Company to the Rochester Optical Division in 1907). Inscription on outside of metal back, "Premo film pack adapter."
