Ryer's Inn

Ryer's Inn was organized and presented by students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program. It was modeled after the Cornell University event "Ezra Cornell Hotel". Its purpose was to show members of the Hospitality Industry what Ryerson's program had to offer by showcasing its' students. The event is completely organized and executed by student's in the program, with faculty supervision. It's inaugural night was held February 28, 1981.
Subseries consists of photographs taken at two events - 1981 and 1983.

Registrar's Office records - general

Sub-series (divided in to files by decade) contains correspondence, meeting minutes and other materials generated by/received by the Office of the Registrar. Some of the files contents may overlap with other files in the Administrative series.

Records pertaining to plant, equipment, and supplies

Sub-series consists of records related to the construction, outfitting, maintenance and/or use of Kodak Canada's facilities in Toronto, Brampton, Montreal and Vancouver from roughly 1900 to 1987. Includes correspondence, contracts, notes, technical drawings, inventories, order forms, and other ephemera related to plant construction, particularly Kodak Canada's main manufacturing facility, Kodak Heights, at Eglinton Avenue and Weston Road in Toronto, Ontario. Also includes: publicity and public relations records related to plant open houses; records pertaining to Kodak Heights' use as military barracks in WWI; engineering field notes compiled during Kodak Heights construction; records pertaining to the opening of the Kodak processing laboratory in Vancouver, as well as plant procedures and engineering codes.

Records pertaining to employee activities

Sub-series consists of records pertaining to the activities of Kodak employees from 1916 to 2001. To a significant extent, Kodak Canada imported the corporate culture created by George Eastman at Eastman Kodak Company. This culture encouraged and supported employee participation in collective leisure activities, including participation in athletic and cultural clubs and events. Sub-series includes records pertaining to employee involvement in WWI and WWII, employee recognition events and annual meetings, and employee leisure and athletic activities.

RADmag (Ryerson Art + Design Magazine)

File contains copies of RADmag - Ryerson Art + Design magazine. It is a creative magazine spotlighting students all the schools under the Faculty of Communicaiton and Design. Issue 00 was an alumni edition and Issue 01 was published with 3 different covers.

Promotional material

Sub-series consists of published promotional pamphlets, brochures, and other materials produced by Eastman Kodak, its subsidiaries, and external companies between 1919 and 2004. Includes promotional materials targeted toward dealers and retailers of Kodak products, amateur and professional photographers, and Kodak's business market. Also contains published materials promoting Kodak as a company, including company histories, biographies of George Eastman, and company profiles.

Product catalogues and price lists

Sub-series includes catalogues and price lists for Kodak products from 1902 to 1995, many of which are illustrated. Includes lists and catalogues for still and motion picture cameras and accessories, as well as for Eastman photographic chemicals. Lists and catalogues targeted amateur and professional photographers, as well as Kodak dealers and wholesalers.

Product and research records

Sub-series contains records from 1904 to 1966 detailing recipes, instructions and procedures pertaining to the creation or repair of Kodak products, as well as reports stemming from photographic chemical research produced by Kodak and by external authors. Sub-series includes: recipes and instructions for producing photographic chemicals, papers, emulsions, dyes, and other materials; standard practices used in paper coating and emulsion; daily production logbooks; paper production stock records; and records detailing equipment and procedures used to repair Kodak products.

Posters and Signage

Series contains posters and signs from Kodak Canada Ltd. Most posters are reproductions of the original Eastman Kodak advertisements on foamcore boards for the purposes of display in the Kodak Heritage Museum. Objects originally intended for the Kodak Heritage Museum have been indicated in the notes field of the record. Subjects include: promotional posters from Kodak's The Techniques of the Masters Videoconference Series, advertising campaigns and Kodak slogans printed on posters, historical images of Kodak cameras, and medical imaging posters from the Health Sciences Division of Eastman Kodak Company. Also included are a group of large-scale foamcore posters of Kodak Heights operations reproduced from glass plate negatives in the collection.

Politics of Bureaucracy

This subseries contains audio cassettes and textual records related to the Open College course: Politics of Bureaucracy, developed by Dr R. Olling and Desmond Glynn. Textual records include transcriptions of source interviews used in the finished radio-based course. Audio cassettes in this file include finished production tapes of the actual broadcasted course.

Part-time degree studies calendars

This file contains Part-time degree studies calendars.
2009/2010 last school year for printed calendars. Available online. Selective xerlox bound copies of the calendar are still printed and given to select departments within the University.

Panorama

Sub-series contains panoramic lantern slides, with either one continuous illustrations or several smaller images on a rectangular slide. Subjects of the slides include wildlife, outdoor scenes, children's entertainment and monuments. The three complete panoramic story sets are Mickey Mouse in Pigmy Land, Mickey Mouse in Giant Land and The Wonderful Story of Dame Trot and her Pig.

Oversized

Sub-series contains 6 large rectangular glass lantern slides with wooden frames. The subjects of the slides include:

  • Little red riding hood
  • Wild animals (elephant, lion, tiger, polar bear)
  • Farm (girl, dog, cow, pitchfork)
  • Two castles and a house
  • 3 boys chasing after a dog with a watering can tied to the dog
  • Man warding off dog, man with umbrella, another man carving a boat
  • Various birds (toucan, peacock, falcon, and flamingo)
