The new building, Temple Emanu-El, and its sanctuary were dedicated on Friday, April 22, 1960. In 1980 Temple Beth Sholom, a sister congregation, was united with Temple Emanu-El to form the present Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom congregation.

Drawings include the addition of a new waterfront park, viewing platforms hung under the raised expressway, Front Street is extended to the west, and an amusement pier at Sunnyside. The designs were commissioned as part of an OAA Charrette, and the images were published in the July 1987 issue of Canadian Architect magazine.
