Agnes Osberg album

A leather bound cabinet card album with a metal adornment on the front cover, designed like a shield and engraved with the words "Minne" and "…at" along with the owner's name: "Agnes Osberg". Inside front page is printed in German "Von dankbaren Elewen" and Swedish "Nääs 19/12 1892." Many sitters are identified and portrait photographers whose card texts are visible areidentified as Swedish and American.

Item is a cream coloured bi-fold card (3 flaps) with an embossed ribbon on the front flap at lower right. Inside, a vignetted photograph of a man in Canadian army uniform, with a badge on his right shoulder labeled "Toronto". The back of the photograph is stamped "HALKSWORTH WHEELER/ 109A SANDGATE ROAD./ FOLKESTONE". This is handwritten on the front of the photograph, and the date August 1917 is written on the card.

Photograph is of a maid holding a tray with a teacup and pots of cream and sugar. Studio backdrop with palm fronds. On verso of card, decorative gold stamp with floral motif and the photographer's name and address repeated, with the additional information: "Alexandra Studios" and "NEGATIVES KEPT EXTRA COPIES CAN ALWAYS/ BE HAD BY SENDING NAME."
