There is a small white dog at his feet, and the angle of the window gives the appearance of an attic. At the bottome edge, in purple letterpress, "HIS ONLY PAIR." On verso, handwritten in pencil, "3-".

Print is captioned "Motherhood." It depicts a woman in a white fur-trimmed robe holding an infant in a white blanket. On verso, the work is identified as a Glaxo Baby Book advertisement. The envelope is addressed, Canadian-stamped, and cancelled.

On verso, elaborate design in gold ink repeating the photographer's name and studio address, along with a handwritten note and negative number. A cartoon of two Chinese (?) men appear in the lower left of the design. The card design was provided by Free Press Print, Ottawa.
