Retail Management Program

Donna Smith, Interim director of the School of Retail Management and departmental assistant Mary Vasile are recruiting students for the new program. 'Donna Smith selling Retail Management program', feature article in Forum, March 9, 1998.

Raymond Chang donation reception

File contains photographs of the reception for G. Raymond Chang, member of Ryerson's Board of Governors at the time. Reception held to celebrate his donation of $5 million dollars to the University's Continuing Education school. School re-named the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education as part of this donation. Raymond Chang is pictured with various people as well as being photographed with the Ryerson Chair, which is given to donors by the University. Chair was designed by a Ryerson student. Image of Raymond Chang seated in the chair was published in the February 2004 edition of the FORUM.

RTA Faculty and students

File contains photographs of Faculty and staff. The photographs are mostly composed of projects the faculty were involved in. Included in the file are photographs of Jon Keeble, RTA chair, and Ross McCreath, president of the Canadian Communications Foundation for the launch of the CCF website about the history of private broadcasting which Keeble was involved in creating; Professor Clive VanderBurgh with his "Kids TV Research" project; and Photographs from the launch of Ryerson's Spirit Radio station and the station co-ordinator Mark Banbury, an RTA graduate and instructor in the school. Also included in the file are 2 copies of a photograph of an Ryerson RTA student Melanie Green with Jay Leno - she interned on his show. This photograph was published in the 1996 edition of the Rambler magazine.

RTA - NetStar - cheque presentation

President of NetStar Sports, Jim Thompson presented a cheque for $30,000 to President Claude Lajeunesse for students with disabilities pursuing a career in radio and television. Kevin Shaw is one of the first students to receive this award. He is featured in news stories in the FORUM news magazine and the Ryerson magazine about his award.

RTA - Fairchild Radio Group Endowment

Commemorative plaque was presented to Fairchild Media Group owner, Thomas Fung. Establishing the Fairchild Scholarship Fund with an endowment of $160,000. Booklet included titled "Fairchild...the key to all Chinese homes"

RAC - Pam Ennis (Duathlete)

Pam Ennis trains for duathlons and triathlons at the RAC where she works as an aquatics fitness expert. A thirst for competition: diver turns world-class duathlete from Forum, Octover 26, 1998.

Queen's Silver Jubilee Award presentation

Frederic Lebrun a third year Aerospace student is one of the students to win the Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee award. Claude Lajeunesse presented him with a certificate of merit and he also received a cash award of $5,000. The Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee award encourages young Canadians to improve proficiency in their second official language by studying at a university which functions in the other official language. Positive Space Campaign

Lesbian and Gay positive space a campaign endorsed by Wendy Roberts and a fourth year Social Work student. Wendy Roberts co-ordinator of harrassment Prevention Services (HPS) which is overseeing the campaign. Posting a sticker should mean that "you are supportive in a general way" "are comfortable being with and talking with people whose sexual orientation may not share" and that " you are prepared to challenge homophobic and stereotypical talk, even if said in jest." "Positive Space Campaign seeks more inclusive environment" from Forum January 17, 1997.
