Graphic Communications Mangement Periodic Program Review, 2006

File contains the Periodic Program Review for the Graphic Communications Management program. Also in the file is a "Retention rates 1992-2004" document, 2 copies of the GCM activities update for May 2006 including a book chapter written by Abhay Sharma, a CD Rom copy of the program review, and a copy of the April 2006 GCM alumni newsletter.

Digital Media Zone

Series contains materials related to the DMZ, a business incubator and co-working space for technology-based entrepreneurs with a mandate to help startups succeed by connecting them with customers, advisors, influencers and other entrepreneurs.

Based in offices in the Dundas Square building at Ryerson University, the Zone is run by students and open to both students and non-students to apply with business ideas and prototypes. Accepted startups receive four months of free co-working space and services (after which they can pay a membership fee to stay on), and access to seed funding and an accelerator program through Ryerson Futures Inc. (RFI), a for-profit business associated with Ryerson. The DMZ also offers an "Innovation-for-Hire" program that laccesses expertise associated with the DMZ and Ryerson University to solve real business problems for industry partners as well as an intrapreneur program.

As of April 2014, the DMZ was home to 62 startups and a group of 75 alumni startups. The companies incubating at the DMZ reflected a mix of Ryerson-affiliated startups and non-Ryerson affiliates.

The DMZ was the first of an network of other "zones" at the University, each specializing in growth sectors to support new entrepreneurs.

The file consists of a booklet containing short descriptions of what zone learning is and how a student can benefit from being a member. Three student examples illustrates in what capacity a student can benefit from membership in a Zone - "The portfolio builder", "The entrepreneur" and "The changemaker".
