Lanzhou Railway Institute watercolour

A colourful watercolour scroll presented to Ryerson by the Lanzhou Railway Institute of China. Ryerson and the Lanzhou Institute entered a four-year partnership in July of 1990 called the Computer Applications Project. Article about the scroll in FORUM, October 19, 1990,

Blue and green striped folder contains a copy of the August 27/08 Newspaper, a business card for Christopher Roberts - the Eye advertising manager, and 4 sheets about Eyeopener, publication schedule, and pricing charts.

Proposals for Degree in Information Science

Aims and objectives of Department. Summary of faculty qualifications. Outlines for "Archival Arts" and "Informatic Arts"/3rd. year. Includes "Report to the Ontario Government re:Library Arts Program", minutes, correspondence and clippings and incorporates the files of the department's chairman.

Distance Education

Contains policy recommendations for development of Distance Education, brochures, correspondence among faculty and some hand written notes.

Student projects

A random sampling of 37 projects done by students on a variety of subjects relating to their area of study. Most in notebook form.

Student and graduate photographs

Originally housed in two 3 x 5 card file boxes containing black and white, and colour photographs of Library Arts 1st year students and graduates. The first year student photos were taken at the beginning of the school year to assist the instructors in identifying their students. The program was phased out of the Spring of 1983.

Archives signs

File contains two formerly used library signs. The first says "Ryerson Polytechnical Institute Archives. The second says "Entrance to Library, Jorgenson Hall, Archives located on 3rd".

Ryerson 50th Anniversary

This is a working file, which was maintained by the Archivist, on the Archives' involvement in Ryerson's 50th Anniversary celebrations and events in 1998. It includes, among other things, information and documentation on the Ryerson History project, the Board of Governors Reception held in the Archives, the Open House/Homecoming Day in October and the "50th Memories" photographic feature which appeared in FORUM.

Photographs were taken of the Archives area before the installation of new carpeting to use as guide for replacing moved or boxed items.

Senior directors presentation - Archives business case

This file consists of two elements. One is a presentation by the University Archivist to a Senior Directors' meeting on the Archives and Records Management Program. The other is a business case prepared by the Archivist on "Additional Staffing Resources", which ensued from the Senior Directors's meeting.

Public Health Inspection Department Bachelor of Applied Arts (Environmental Health) proposed program presentation

File contains a photocopy working copy of the May 1975 program presentation for a Bachelor of Applied Arts for the Public Health Inspection Department. There are original documents for the "Existing Personnel and Projected Requirements" section, Appendix C "Advisory Council", Appendix D "Correspondence", and Appendix E "Minutes of Meetings Advisory Council, Departmental Council" in the file, along with a working copy of the document and a letter regarding the proposal.

Major Alex O'Hara

Major Alex S. O'Hara had an extensize background in public health and sanitary inspection when in 1952 he organized and became the first director of the Ontario Sanitary Inspectors' Training course that was initially run through Ryerson and in 1963 would be taken over by Ryerson from under the Department of Public Health.

The file contains a transcript of President Donald Mordell's speech about Alex O'Hara at the June 2, 1978 convocation ceremony. Alex O'Hara presented the graduates with their certificates at that ceremony. Also in the file is a mini-biography of Alex O'Hara and a memo from Public Health Inspection Chairman Ron de Burger to Jim Peters.

This file contains 6 folders of newspaper clippings from the Eyeopener and local Toronto newspapers related to items that were of interest to the Board of Governors. The clippings files were compiled by Information Services and distributed to the BOG. Clippings in this file are arranged chronologically (as they were compiled) with the 6th folder containing clippings specifically related to Rochdale College.

Faculty of Business Strategic Academic Plan draft 1989/90

File contains a copy of the draft 1989-1990 Faculty of Business Strategic Academic Plan submitted by Dean of Business Timothy Reid to Vice-President Academic Terry Grier for the APG (Academic Planning Group) meeting held June 22-23, 1988. Included in the plan are individual academic plans for each School (Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Office and Administrative Studies) submitted by their chairmen - S. Hulbert, B, Patterson, and P. Williams. Copies of the draft were also submitted to the other members of the APG as well.

Harvey Curry's Toronto Normal School classmates' portrait images

Twelve portrait photographs have tiny holes in the upper corners through which the photos were threaded with a fine thread. All but one image is either annotated with the sitter's name or signed by the sitter. These would have been shared amongst the class of '24 as momentoes. The tiny photographs on page 3 of the photo album pages maybe smaller versions of shared portraits. These portraits include :
