"Early Days At Ryerson"*

Two copies of an 8mm colour film of Ryerson activities taken by Journalism instructor Ted Schrader. An approximate list of scenes, in rough sequential order, is as follows : Ryerson Hall and St. James Square grounds; students in cars; orientation and initiation; a visit to the Ottawa Press Gallery (Earl Beattie); the Ryersonian newsroom (Ted Schrader); the cafeteria; an "away" football game (student supporters, parade, cheerleaders, band, Al Sauro); ROW/RIOT(?) rehearsals; the front of Ryerson Hall; the temporary buildings and quonset huts; a young Paul Nowack; Earl Beattie; a TTC chartered bus(?); students at the Ryerson Hall entrance; a reference to the Eisenhower U.S. election. Duration time: 25 minutes.

1846 Letter : To W. Thomas from Niagara Board of Police

This is a letter to William Thomas from the Clerk of the Board of Police, Niagara, concerning the installation of the roof over the Market House and Town Hall. Thomas designed the Town Hall, Court House, and Market buildings (1846-1847). This document was retrieved from the Oakham House documentation file.

Women and Planning conference

The Women and Planning conference was a one day conference held at Ryerson on May 1, 1982. The conference, dealing with the issues on women in the planning profession and the broader affect of planning on women in the community, was organized by a group called "Women In/And Planning - including Ryerson professor Pam Hitchcock. The event was sponsored by the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation and the Secretary of State. The City of Toronto Planning and Development Department, The Centre for Urban and Community Studies at the University of Toronto, and Ryerson's Urban and Regional Planning Department were also involved.

File contains 1 copy of an article published in the "FORUM" newsletter April 23, 1982 about the conference, and 3 audio reel-to-reel tapes of conference sessions.

Business Award plaques/lists

File contains plaques and a matted list for awards given in the Business Program. Included are the general proficiency award, HSBC Canada Business Award, and the Nestle Award for Applied Business.

General Proficiency Award

Wood plaque in a shield shape. "Ryerson Institute of Technology" across top on a brass plaque. Large centre plaque with "General Proficiency Award presented to The School of Business by The Class of 1957" etched into it. Around the edge of the plaque are smaller metal shields - only two of which are engraved with student's names, the rest are blank.
