A sticker with Y on wood frame. Image is of a waterfall or cascade and moutain. Location is unknown as it is difficult to read the name.

Glass slide, handpainted over B&W slide. No wood frame. Black frame with gold letters "Edward Van Altena 71-79W. 45th St., N.Y.C." Slide is numbered 49 in the series. Black paper around glass edges. Heavily painted. Image is of a young boy kneeling and looking up to the sky, beside a tree with no leaves, beside him is a dog and a deer with antlers.

Item consists of a cabinet card of three children posed in front of an outdoor backdrop. Two of the children are wearing hats, and one child has small toy horses on front of them. Bottom of the card is stamped with the studio logo for World's Fair Photo View Co., 334 East Ormsby Ave., Louisville, Kentucky.

Lantern slide, glass slide in wood frame. Image area is circular as is the hole in the wood frame. Illustration is hand painted onto the glass. Only information on slide is carved into wood frame "T.H. McAllister Optician N.Y." Illustration of a bar scene, with an American flag hanging above the bar. There's men standing beside a bar, with a bartender standing behind it. Looks like the men are arguing, and one of the seated men a glass broken on his head, and there's blood. There's a dog in the foreground barking at the men.

[Baby on a Blanket]

Item consists of a black and white photograph of a baby lying on a white blanket. The baby is dressed in a white gown and lays beside a small flower bouquet. The photograph is shot from an odd angle and the baby is framed diagonally in the shot. The baby's dark hair is askew. The image is surrounded by a 0.75 cm white border. The back of the photograph is stamped "artray limited, photographers, vancover canada, art jones . ray munro". Former Vancouver Sun photojournalists, Art Jones and Ray Munro, incorporated artray limited in 1948. Jones and Munro were only in business together for less than a year, as Jones bought Munro out later in 1948. Munro went on to become a columnist, a parachute jumper, and a hypnotist, among other things. Jones later went on to produce and host "Art Jones & Company", a weekly feature on SHAW TV, where he chatted with business, entertainment, community and political leaders.

Item consists of two photographs of a baby in a white dress sleeping in a bed. The baby is propped up on some pillows in a single bed. These appear to be the same photograph printed twice at different exposures.

Semi-gloss print with white border depicting a mountainous landscape with forest and lake. There is a path around the lake with figures on it. Heavily painted. Image is of a group of people, outside a barn, looking at one man standing on a bridge, their fists are raised in the air and they look angry. The man staning on the bridge is looking up at the sky, a young boy kneels on the bridge too with dead sheep around him.

[8x10 Nitrate Negative]

Item is a nitrate 8x10 negative. Inscription on negative "Eastman - Nitrate - Kodak 137." Nitrate film was manufactured between 1887 and 1950, but Notman studios operated until 1936, and this negative was housed in a Notman envelope. Image is a portrait of a man with a mustache, with the background completely blocked out (painted in opaque red paint), and his face has been touched up with pencil. The man's face is closely cropped, to one side. Unidentified man.

[3 Women and a Man on a Lock]

Item consists of three black and white photographs of three women and a man on a lock. In each of the photographs, the women and man stand and sit in different configurations. They are perched against the lock's crank, and behind them is the lock and water. In the background there are some trees. The women are dressed is dresses and skirts, and the man is wearing a suit and tie. They look relaxed and are all wearing hats. Two of the photographs show only part of the faces of the people. It seems as though the photographer shot them too low, so parts of them are cut out of the frame. Each photograph is surrounded by an uneven white border. On the back of each photograph is handwritten in pencil the number "8", and on one of the photographs in brown pen is "July 12 / 19"

Yellow filter metal holder is printed with "KODAK SERIES V ADAPTER RING1 1/16 IN. - 27 mm. MADE IN USA", and the filter metal ring is printed with "SERIES V WRATTEN FILTER K2 MADE IN USA." "KODAK" is molded into the top of the yellow and black plastic screw-top filter case.

Item consists of a photograph of a group of young men in white t-shirts and shorts, with one man wearing a dark sweater in the centre. They all have their arms folded across their chests. At the bottom, a wooden sign is laid out with the words "W.M.C.A. PHYSICAL CULTURE CLASS". Photograph is mounted on brown card with the text embossed at the lower right, "Johnston/ WICK AND THURSO".

Workers on the Grand Trunk Line 1902

Item consists of a grey card with photograph affixed. Image shows four rows of men standing and seated on a wagon in front of a brick building, all workers on the Grand Trunk Railway line. On verso, handwritten in pencil, "Grand Trunk line" and at top right corner, "1901". On plastic bag accompanying photograph (discarded), a sticker was attached with the text "Grand Trunk Railway/ 1902/ 9.25".

Wood camera frame

Camera is made of wood: a two-part hinged frame supports a hinged lens assembly and hinged contact frame. The lens assembly includes a leather and felt lens cap. There is also a metal-ringed glass lens and a small metal key loose inside the camera body.

Women gathered around fair tent

Item is a photograph mounted on beige card with dark brown borders and the text embossed sideways at the left, "Forsythe/ DUNDAS, ONT." Photograph shows a large group of women gathered around and in a wooden fair stall with fabric tented ceiling. On the front of the stall, a small banner with the words "United/ Calm and Resolute", the words of the King of England in 1914 upon hearing of Germany's invasion of Brussels. There are British flags decorating the stall in the park.

Item consists of a photograph of a wedding party, with bride and groom in centre flanked by maid of honour and best man. They stand in front of a studio backdrop depicting an outdoor scene. The picture has been hand-coloured. Found inside a white bi-fold card which opened vertically. At the bottom of the inside mount,at the right in grey letterpress "HENRY MAR/ CHINESE PHOTOGRAPHER/ RED DEER, ALTA." Handwritten in ink at the bottom left, "Lovingly,/ Elmer & Eleanor/ June 25,/ 49."

Wedding

Item consists of photographs taken at the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. McClure in 1925. Subjects include various group photos, a large boat, a Ford Model A, horse carriages, a large drum with the Prince of Wales on it, canoes, and dog carriages.

Watercolor outfit

Watercolour outfit for hand-colouring photographic prints. The tan cardboard box has a tan label printed with black ink: "VELOX TRANPARENT WATERCOLOR STAMP OUTFIT." Included in the box is a plastic palette and an instruction booklet with colour stamps separated by vellum sheets labeled: "LIGHT YELLOW, FOLIAGE GREEN, DEEP YELLOW, DEEP GREEN, FLESH TINT, LIGHT BLUE, BRILLIANT RED, DARK BLUE, SCARLET, VIOLET, WARM BROWN, STONE GRAY." There is an empty tray for brushes.

Wales album

Green cover album - binding coming loose, very brittle. Beige pages with gold trim. Handwritten notations in black ink (poem written on pages dated July 1886 (excerpt from Arthur Hugh Clough's "O Stream Descending") and plant specimen dated June 30th 1886 from Cornwall). Photographs are glued in; some images appear to be ink drawings. One handpainted image onto a page, covered by protective tissue paper.

Locations and sites include: Rhyl Pier, Conway Castle, Llandudno Bay, Carnarvon Castle, Beaumaris Castle, The Menai Straits; all Wales. Clifton Downs and Clifton Suspension Bridge, Cornwall, Falmouth and Flushing, in England.

Themes include: landscapes and scenic vistas, rural farm life, castles, group and family portraits, places throughout England and Wales.

WWI family album

Brown cloth cover with gold embossed letters- "Photographs." Black pages with photographs mounted with glue. Notation on photo borders with black ink. Sewn binding. Photographs are mostly family snapshots of people, sometimes with automobiles or in uniform from the Northcote family. Also included are images of golfing, bridges, fishing, horse riding, camping, farms, cattle, sheep, chicken coops, horse drawn sleigh, the beach, trees, houses, dogs, trains, children, biking, deer and wagons. Three newspaper articles are pasted in. One about the Northcote family (mother, six sons and two daughters) all serving in the war, one about Pte. Wm. Clements dying in battle, and one of Corporal Northcote being the first Royal Engineer to be awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
