In the BRC there's the numbers 99-218 printed on slide itself. More research shows that Joseph Hawkes worked in New York City and Brooklyn in the late 19th century, and he hand coloured slides. "He worked with the Brooklyn Museum's curator of fine arts, William Henry Goodyear, to reproduce images of archaeological and architectural sites in Europe as well as images of the Paris Exposition." It appears as though the photograph was developed or fixed incorrectly, as there are marks from developing the image. The two photographs are identical, but different exposures. There is an uneven white border around both images. On the back of each photograph is written in pencil "28" and "50¢"

Likely used for sales or marketing presentations.

[Kodak Tri-X Pan professional roll film]

Roll film in yellow paper wrapping, unopened. The film likely came in a cardboard box that would have described the film type and speed. The letters "TXP" are stamped repeatedly on the paper, along with the word "Kodak" in red. TXP typically refers to Kodak Tri-X Panchromatic black and white negative films. The only Tri-X films produced in a medium format roll with the designation 'TXP' is a 320 ISO in 120 and 220 sizes.

Item consists of a series of black and white photographs of a young men's baseball team. In one photo, the men are wearing baseball hats with the letter "P" on them, and ties that say "Portsmouth". The guys are standing in a hilly suburb park area with some homes behind them. All of the men in their uniforms are standing in a line, and there is a younger looking boy dressed as an umpire in front of them. There is a small uneven white border around the image. On the back of the photograph, someone has written in pencil "Jerry Sachs, 5 from left side". In another photo, the team is together on a grassy field with a man in a hat and tie. They are off- center and some of the team appears to be cut out of the frame. There is a light leak on the bottom right. Item consists of 15 black and white photographs. The photographs are of two young men engaging in different sports. According to the handwritten captions on the back of the photographs, two of these men are Jerry Sachs and Al Corbett. The photographs show the men posing in different athletic uniforms. Boxing, baseball and basketball are some of the sports the men are engaging in.

[Imperial Germany portraits]

This glass lantern slide is representative of personas from Imperial Militaria Germany (1871-1918). It has four portraits of men, they have been identified as Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903), Frederick III (Emperor in 1888 for 99 days, successor to William I and predecessor of William II), Helmuth von Meltke the Elder (Chief of Staff of the Prussian Army from 1822-1888) and Otto von Bismarck (Chancellor from 1871-1890). In the portrait of Frederick III, he is wearing the Order of the Black Eagle, which means he was Emperor in this picture. Since Frederick III only ruled in 1888, and the other three were either still in power or just retiring, we have tentatively dated the piece for after 1888. This year refers to the Year of Three Emperors, because it was the year that William I died, the year Frederick III ruled and died, and that William II took over as Emperor. The images are in colour, potentially colour halftone process on a glass slide. Just one pane of glass, printed on verso.

Two seated on the same chair on the right appear to be toddlers. The two standing behind, one girl & one boy, are older than the rest. The girls wear dresses with big white lace collars, very fashionable in children's fashion from the 1870s. All four corners are angled off.

Cream card-frame with red vignetting and details. Backing is pink cardboard that folds out, and looks like it is the page of an album. Tintype is a group portrait of seven young women, four sitting and three standing. All the women have white bow in their hair and white lace collars that date this photograph from the 1880s. Studio backdrop used, and you can see where it ends up top. Perhaps this is a class photograph, as they are similarly dressed. Or possibly housemaids?

Fonds consists of 12 "Canadian Kodakery" magazines dating from June 1916 to May 1917, 1 issue of "Kodak on the Farm" and 2 issues of "Kodak and Kodak Supplies" with 107 negatives interfiled between the pages. The magazines were used as an arrangement system for negatives of the Glencoe, Ontario area. The pages of the magazines have notes in the margins describing the subject of the negative stored at that page, and tabs have been cut out of the pages much like one would see tabs on a card index. Most of the negatives are consistent with the No. 122 roll film size but a few were taken with a smaller film format.

Item consists of a black and white photograph of a boys' baseball team. The boys wear uniforms with GEMS on the front. They are sitting and standing on a grassy field. Five boys stand in the back, six sit cross-legged in front of them, and one boy is laying in front of all of them. There is a boy visible in the background, leaning on his bat.
