Going For It: Steps to Achieving Your Job Goals at Ryerson

"Going For It" was originally developed by Ryerson's Placement Centre, and Centre for Student Development and Counselling (CSDC). In 1988 the program was adapted for Administrative and Academic Support staff at the School by Human Resources and the CSDC.
Included in the file are 3 booklets: "The Interview"; "The Resume"; and "Self-Assessment and Goal Setting". They appear to be working copies with notes for future revisions.

Reports on academic advising and planning

Two reports written by Ron Taber of the Counselling Centre. The first is entitled "A brief report on departmental academic advising systems" and was based on a project involving the Counselling Centre and each departmental chair. The Centre was trying to gauge what was being done at the departmental level for students.
The second report is entitled "A submission for academic planning". Report was based on student concerns and issues.

Career accelerator cheque presentation

Canadian Women in Communications/Roger's "Career Accelerator" cheque presentation is a one week seminar for members of the group "Canadian Women in Communications" (CWC). In order to qualify applicants had to have a minimum of five years experience working in radio broadcasting. At the cheque presentation ceremony Stephanie McKendrick - CWC President, Pamela Wallin - CWC Board Member, Laura Nixon - CFO of Rogers, Dr. Ira Levine, Dr. Robert Gardner, Jerry Good (RTA Head of Audio and the person responsible for spearheading this project) and Claude Lajuenesse.

Athletics luncheon

Ryerson athletics 1997-98 held a luncheon on April 12, 1998. The luncheon was to honour their achievements for that year.

United Way Pancake Breakfast

Dennis Mock, Vice President Academic and Michael Deswson, Vice President Faculty Affairs, served breakfact at Ryerson's second annual pancake breakfast for the United Way on October 9, 1998. From "Forum, October 26, 1998".

SuperBuild - Press Conference

February 2000 when Ryerson received money from the provincial government for its Superbuild initiative, the press conference was given by the Premier (Ernie Eves) and the President (Claude Lajeunesse).

Athletics - Varsity teams 1998/99

Ryerson interuniversity athletics offers teams in men's and women's badminton, basketball, fencing, soccer, squash, swimming, and volleyball as well as women's figures skating and men's ice hockey.

Convocation (Spring)

Convocation for the the Faculty of Applied Arts ( Fashion, Image Arts, Interior Design and Theatre) and Business Management. Arthur Lee, President and Chief Executive Officer of Solid Wear and James Cameron, Film maker were both awarded the Doctor of Laws.

Open College - Staff: Friesen/Black

Cate Friesen the host of Absolutely Folk and Kai Black the host of Music without Borders were part of the programming on Saturdays from 12-3 pm on CJRT-FM. Coverage of their works were documented in Listeners Network (The Open College Newsletter)/Winter 1998 Vol.4 no.3.

HTM - Marion Joppe Re Heritage Toronto

Dr. Marion Joppe instructor with the Hospitality and Tourism Mangagement Department and also the chair of Heritage Toronto
is a leader in the redevelopment of different areas and showcasing Toronto, e.g. the waterfront, Yonge-Dundas area and the Mackenzie House.

Concordia University

File contains photographic prints of four games featuring the Ryerson Rams women's basketball team against the Concordia University Stingers. All games took place in the Kerr Hall Gym. File also contains negatives. Unclear as to whether or not they coincide with the prints or are of another game(s) entirely.

Research Mandate Committee

Series contains materials relating to the Research Mandate Committee established by the Vice President, Academic in November 1990. Files within the series contain: the final report, correspondence, studies, minutes, bibliographic documentation and clippings.

Provost's Committee on the Feasibility of a Faculty of Science at Ryerson University

In 2008 the academic plan "Shaping our Future" was released (RG 74.63). From this plan the Provost's Commission on Academic Structures was formed and released its final report in 2010. The first scenario presented in the commissions final report was the formation of a separate Faculty of Science. A committee to investigate this possibility was formed in July of 2010. A town hall was held in November of 2010. In April of 2011 the committee presented its preliminary report at a second town hall, with the final report being submitted to the Provost on April 27. The Senate approved the establishment of a new separate Faculty of Science on June 7, 2011. The Faculty will be in place by July 2012.

Review of Policies, Practices and Protocols related to Sexual Assault at Ryerson University

At the bequest of the Council of Ontario Universities, Ryerson University began a process of reviewing its policies on dealing with sexual assault to see if a single consolidated policy was needed. The review was headed by Heather Lane Vetere, Vice-Provost Students. She met with a cross section of the Ryerson Community and there were opportunities for feedback by students and staff. The result was a single consolidated policy and a list of 18 recommendations.
