Hit miniature camera

Item is a "Hit" type novelty subminiature camera for 14 x 14 mm exposures on 17.5 mm paper-backed rollfilm. This style of camera was named for the original Hit camera design that inspired many similar cameras. This design is a chrome and black leatherette construction. Hit cameras were first produced in post WWII Japan, and were sold for about $0.50 each. Miniature accessories, such as filters, lens hoods and leather carrying cases, were also available. It is not known if this camera is related to the Crystar company.

Ricoh Golden 16

Item is a subminiature camera for 10 x 14 mm exposures on 16mm film in special cassettes. The camera has a removable lens system and includes a Riken Ricoh F1:3.5/25mm and Riken Telescopic lens F1:5.6/40mm in original wooden box and a box of Golden Ricoh Film in cartridge. The Golden Ricoh was originally names the Golden Steky, both models were higher end miniature cameras and were electroplated in gold.

Minolta 16 MG-S

Item is a subminiature camera, similar to the Minolta 16 MG, manufactured between 1966 and 1971. The images produced by 16 MG-S are a substantial improvement over the 16 MG. By using single perforated film format, the negative size was increased from 10x14mm to 12x17mm thus producing an image almost 50% larger. Composed of 4 elements in 3 groups the 23mm (f2.8-16) lens had a fixed-focus set at about 13 feet. Shutter speeds ranged from 1/30 to 1/500.

Item is a single lens reflex camera 6 x 6 cm exposures on 120 roll film. Made by Fujita Optical Company for Kalimar (in the USA), the cloth focal plane shutter allows exposures from B to 1/500 sec. Film counter set manually at the first exposure (start at arrow on film back) Sports style viewfinder on viewer shaft.

Item is a medium format twin lens reflex camera for 6 x 6 cm exposures on 120 roll film. Marketed as a professional camera, lenses are interchangeable (both the upper and lower lenses are removed together) without exposing the film. Extra lens included (Mamiya-Secor f4.5, 65 - 135 mm with a Seikosha - S shutter 1 - 1/500 sec.)

Item is a typical medium format twin lens reflex camera, designed to resemble a Rolleiflex. The "LM", for light meter, indicates that this model has a selenium cell exposure meter on top, with meter control on left side. Shutter: Copal MX. 80mm f3.5 Yashicor Lens.

Zenit-E

Item is a 35 mm cameras with 1/30 - 1/500 shutter speeds and a Helios 44 mm f2 lens. The camera has an uncoupled selenium meter and a match-needle on top housing. The match-needle was a system of exposure metering commonly used in the 1960's and 1970's. The system used small needles (similar to small watch hands) that lined up to indicate the level of exposure.

An inexpensive moel with simple features, mechanical single-speed shutter, 50mm lens with a fixed focus and three aperture settings (indoors, cloudy and sunny). This camera is primarily to used for portraits taken at distances between 2 and 8 feet (0.6 and 2.4 meters). The camera was marketed mainly to younger consumers, as a kit with 6 packs of film.

Item is a pink carte de visite with note handwritten in black ink at bottom, "Mrs Day, Singh, India 1443". Photograph shows an Indian woman in sari seated in a wicker chair holding a sleeping baby in ruffled, Western-style dress. On verso, in pencil, "Bible woman/ Balbia(?)." In a different hand, "1.00". and again, different and at bottom of card "1443".

Rectangular red crushed velvet banner with yellow tassels, shows portrait image of Vladimir Illyich Lenin surrounded by a white circle. On one banner beneath Lenin it reads: Winner in Socialist Competition. (There are no words on the other banner.)

Rectangular red nylon banner with yellow tassels and hanger with gold writing and crests on front an back. Crest includes imagery of hammer and sickle, star, horns (musical instruments), three flames and wheat. On recto, the Young Pioneers logo featuring Lenin's portrait and its slogan, Always Ready!, is featured at the top with horns. In the centre, it reads: Best October (adj.) group! Military medal awarded to servicemen who fought for the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) against Germany. The medals are gold to copper in colour, and hang from ribbons with pins on the back. The medals themselves have a profile of Stalin recto, a small hammer and sickle and star verso, and Russian inscriptions on both sides. Recto reads: Our cause is just. We won. Gold-coloured medals' verso reads: For victory against Germany during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. Copper-coloured medal's verso reads: For valorous work during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.

medals are gold in colour and are hanging from red ribbons with pins on the back. The medals depict the profile of Lenin with dates beneath (1870-1970). These medals were awarded to Soviet workers, economists, military members and foreign communist representatives on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Lenin's birth. Enamelled colour on the metal creates light red for the flames, dark red for the star, and white for the face. There is a metal pin clasp on the back along with a star or 'H' type mark. They were produced in Moscow.

Set of Matrioshkas painted with Soviet political figures

Painted wooden nesting or Matrioshkas dolls of Russian Communist leaders. Mikhail Gorbachev is the first and largest doll, inside which in succession are the leaders: Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev, Joseph Stalin, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. Five dolls in total. The bottom of each doll has an inscription: the number 15. The Gorbachev doll has "Perestroika" written next to a hammer and sickle on a red sash that Gorbachev is wearing. The Brezhnev doll is wearing army medals and decorations. The Khrushchev doll is holding an ear of corn. The Stalin doll is holding a tobacco pipe. The Lenin doll is wearing tha red bow and is holding the Soviet newspaper Truth.

The collection consists of more than 800 items featuring the image of Vladimir Ilych Lenin, the founder of the Soviet Union. There is a variety of media, including paper, textile, bronze, alloy, gold, clay, wood, porcelain, stone as well as books, posters, postcards, and 35mm black and white film. The collection was assembled between 1989 and 2003 in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Vilnius and Kaliningrad. The items in the collection have been arranged in the following series: Documentary Films, Posters, Postcards, Books and Periodicals, Records, Pins, Bookplates, Paintings, Rugs and Embroidery, Postage Stamps, Notes, Coins and Commemorative Medals, Sculptures, Reliefs, Flags.
