The collection consists of more than 800 items featuring the image of Vladimir Ilych Lenin, the founder of the Soviet Union. There is a variety of media, including paper, textile, bronze, alloy, gold, clay, wood, porcelain, stone as well as books, posters, postcards, and 35mm black and white film. The collection was assembled between 1989 and 2003 in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Vilnius and Kaliningrad. The items in the collection have been arranged in the following series: Documentary Films, Posters, Postcards, Books and Periodicals, Records, Pins, Bookplates, Paintings, Rugs and Embroidery, Postage Stamps, Notes, Coins and Commemorative Medals, Sculptures, Reliefs, Flags.

Strange Animals of the World, View-master Reels

Item consists of wheel type stereographs that depict animals divided by geographic location (Wheel 1: South America and Asia, Wheel 2: Australia and Africa, Wheel 3: Africa and North America). The American Cereal Company

Item is a photomechanical reproductioon stereocard produced as a giveaway by the American Cereal Co. The cards were included in the packaging of Pettijohn's Breakfast Food cereal. The company was also giving away stere-viewers when consumers sent in a cut out from the packaging along with 50 cents.

Canadian Embassy, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

This file contains a photographic print of a model of the Canadian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, which was commissioned to Sankey Consultants Limited/Project Planning Associates Limited, a joint-venture firm set up for the purpose. A caption to the photograph is printed on paper and attached to the photo.

This file contains a photographic print of the Russia Hotel under construction, with the 17th century church of St George in the background. The hotel was designed by architect Dmitry Chechulin and closed in 2006.

Blue and clear plastic case contains a self-timer, an adaptor, and instructions. The self-timer is metal, and has "MOD. ll" in red, and a red and ivory painted plate with the words "KOPIL, MADE IN JAPAN." The instructions are on blue vellum.

Large white t-shirt with red writing on it, and coat of arms, laurel, sickle and hammer. On verso, wreath of laurels with star, globe with hammer and sickle and rising sun. More writing. Recto reads: KGB USSR. Verso reads in the different languages of the USSR: Proletariat of all countries, unite!

CCCP watch in box

Watch resting in plastic case, on foam. Red letters (CCCP) on the watch face, with a red star at the 12 o'clock position. CCCP is the Russian abbreviation which translates in English to Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). "Perestroika" is also written on the watch face. Verso of watch face is engraved with "CCCP," a star and the numbers 140836. Plastic box is pink and grey tortoise shell. Recto of box reads "Glory" in Russian. Paper tag tied by string to watch with the letter C on it. Fake wrist band around watch made of paper. Sticker adhesive on top of plastic box with the numbers 11.50. Inside box are folded paper receipts or certificates or warranties.

1917-1957 commemorative plate

Commemorative plate of Vladimir Illyich Lenin standing with one arm raised to the sky, with the other at his chest. At the top of plate are the dates 1917-1957, marking 40 years since the Great October Socialist Revolution. City scape and water in background, with a glowing star in the sky. There are laurels and a hammer and sickle beneath his feet. Done in relief.

Set of Matrioshkas painted with Soviet political figures

Painted wooden nesting or Matrioshkas dolls of Russian Communist leaders. Mikhail Gorbachev is the first and largest doll, inside which in succession are the leaders: Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev, Joseph Stalin, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. Five dolls in total. The bottom of each doll has an inscription: the number 15. The Gorbachev doll has "Perestroika" written next to a hammer and sickle on a red sash that Gorbachev is wearing. The Brezhnev doll is wearing army medals and decorations. The Khrushchev doll is holding an ear of corn. The Stalin doll is holding a tobacco pipe. The Lenin doll is wearing tha red bow and is holding the Soviet newspaper Truth.

Set of Matrioshkas painted with Soviet political figures

Painted wooden nesting or Matrioshkas dolls of Russian Communist leaders. Mikhail Gorbachev is the first and largest doll, inside which in succession are the leaders: Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev, Joseph Stalin, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Semyon Budyonny, Lavrentiy Beria, Sverdlov and Sailor Zeleznyak, leaders potentially of the Russian Revolution. The bottom of the Gorbachev doll has an inscription. Nine dolls in total. The Gorbachev doll has writing in Russian and English with the following messages: "Perestroika! Democracy! Glasnost! Gorbachev, the Father of the Region! USSR + USA = Love! I love Gorbi!" He is holding a set of papers entitled "New Thinking" and Gorbachev is listed as the author. The Brezhnev has Russian and English writing that reads: "Glory to the CPSU! Dear Leonid Ilyich! Party mind, honour and conscience! The party and the people are united! Russkaya Russian Vodka." The Khrushchev doll depicts him at a United Nations podium and he is holding a shoe. The writing around him reads: "Corn! Socialism! Cosmos! Accommodations!" The Stalin doll is holding a pipe and it reads: "Great VOKD! Father of the People!" The Lenin doll depicts him wearing a red ribbon and writing on the doll reads: "Peace to the People! Revolution!" The Beria doll depicts him holding a newspaper with the word "Business" on it and he's wearing a red armband with the letters TsK, which stand for Central Committee.

Cigarette packs with Lenin's portrait

Packages of 20 cigarettes each. Red box bears Russian text and graphic portrait of Lenin. A graphic of the Soviet paper Truth is behind Lenin's portrait. Recto text reads: Cigarettes Prime Nostalgia. A side of the box reads: Cigarettes Fifth Class. The top reads: Smoking harms your health. On the bottom, the company's address is provided. Verso text reads "Prime Nostalgia". A Russian government label depicts the Russian emblem and reads: "Special Tabacco Brand" and "Russia".

USSR newspaper Truth

Front section of Soviet Russian newspaper containing 6 pages of text and halftone images. Identified as issue no. 313 (21282). Newspaper title is flanked by crests of Lenin and a military star type crest. The images include that of a press conference at Lenin's mausoleum, a large protest or march with crowd members holding banners depicting Lenin, military excercizes and parades, and entertainer playing the accordion. On the front page, the main story's title reads: Under the banner of Lenin - dear October! Reporting about the parade and demonstration of workers on Red Square. The title of the story below it reads: Holiday reception at the Kremlin's Palace of Congresses. The last story is titled: A Speech by Comrade L. I. Brezhnev. It is on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the October Revolution. On page 2, the main story from the front page is continued. Pictures of the parade depict soldiers marching and war technology. The story on the right-hand side is about the parade march to the palace. On page 3, the title reads: Unity, Brotherhood, Cohesion: Holiday Celebrations in the Capitals of Union Republics. The cities featured are Kyiv (Kiev), Minsk, Tashkent, Alma-Ata, Tbilisi, Baku, Vilnius, Chisinau (Kishinev), Riga, Frunze, Dushanbe, Yerevan, Ashgabat and Tallinn. On the top left of page 4, the title reads: We talk about the new winners: Calling the foremost example. The story below it is titled: Domestic-talent and skill. The bottom left-hand story is titled: Bridges for Baikal-Amur Mainline, and a picture of foreign parade-goers in Moscow is to its right. The story on the right-hand side is titled: Congratulating Countries of the Union. Page 5 includes various international news stories and a political cartoon about the October Revolution and negative international sentiments toward the USSR. The last page includes article titles including Conviction, News: Holiday Mosaic, Sport, From the Poetry Notebook, Inquiries. Publisher and publishing information is also included at the bottom of the page. At the top of the page, there are two pictures: two young people preparing to celebrate the October Revolution are in one picture and the other shows a sporting event at a stadium.

There are 2 pegs inserted at the base of the plaque, which are inserted into the base to allow the plaque to stand upright on a desk or other flat surface. Lenin is drawn with Soviet era army cap now commonly identified with him as a 'Lenin style cap'.

Statue of Lenin, seated and holding a rolled paper

Small statue, composed of a metal alloy, shows the figure of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin seated on what appears to be a tree stump. He holds a rolled paper in his left hand. A piece of paper, probably the manufacturer's stamp, is adhered to the bottom of one of the statues. The second statue has glue residue in the same location, indicating a similar paper was adhered but removed. The cast was created in 1986. It cost 17 rubles.

Double 33 rpm record album in plastic and external fold-out sleeve. Cover has large red letters that stand for Communist Party of the Soviet Union and a depiction of the USSR constitution document. Centerfold contains numerous historical photograph reproductions with captions. Back has track listings. The years 1971-1980 are included in this 15th edition. It was recorded in 1982 and copyrighted in 1983. It cost 60 kopeks.

Meeting with Lenin

Double 33 rpm record album in plastic and external fold-out sleeve. Cover depicts sketch of Lenin and title. Centerfold is red and white with extensive Russian text, as well as photo and second sketch of Lenin. The title reads: Reading the Biographical Chronicle. Back is white with more Russian text. The recording is described as a documentational composition of chronicles of Lenin's biography. It cost 40 kopecks.

33 rpm LP record in paper and exterior cardboard sleeves. Cover depicts woodcut of Lenin as well as titles text. Back is red and white and contains significant Russian text. Mikhail Astangov reads V. Mayakovsky's commemorative poem about Lenin. It was recorded in 1962 and copyrighted in 1976. It cost 2 rubles and 50 kopeks.

33 rpm record, smaller in diameter than an LP, in a plastic sleeve and cardboard cover. Cover depicts drawings of children and birds in outdoor setting. One side has 7 songs; the other has 6. Biographical information about each of the songs' composers is on the back cover. It cost 90 kopecks.

Audio Discs

Series consists of audio recordings. The content of the recordings varies, from the National Hymn of the Union of Soviet Socialistic Republic International performed by the choir and orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre, to the poem "Portrait of V.I.Lenin" by V. Mayakovski, narrated by Mikhail Astangov, to "Children's Favourite Songs" by various authors and singers.

It is a Ukrainian Communist Party Congress envelope.

Green hardcover album with black cardboard pages. Cover bears a gold symbol of postage stamp with inuit and caribou. Pages have plastic strips to hold postage stamps in place. The album holds at least one hundred Soviet stamps, many bearing the image of Lenin. several loose sheets of perforated stamps are placed between some of the rear pages.

Red and white cardboard folder, the cover of which bears the image of Lenin and a stamp-shaped title area. Inside, the spine is reinforced with fabric, and the inside of the covers have plastic strips to hold postage stamps in place. The folder contains 15 Soviet postage stamps, mainly depicting Lenin in their imagery. Some stamps are Madagascan, Afghan, Soviet, Kampuchean and Ethiopian.

Set of twenty small posters in a book format, depicting the life and work of Lenin. The editor waqs V. A. Krysov, the designer was A. S. Krivenko, the literary editor was L. A. Chernova, the design editor was A. N. Khvatov, the technical editor was T. V. Balagurova and the corrector was Ye. V. Danichenko. It was produced in Moscow.
