Design Archive photographic collection
Design Archive Inc. was the professional company of photographer Robert Burley, who established it in January 1987 and acted as president until January, 2000. Design Archive Inc. specialized in architectural photography: work is project-based, with project locations including commercial centers, businesses, private residences, and public places of note. Interior and exterior architectural structure is the predominant photographic subject, with landscapes and detailed design highlights, furniture, and machinery filling out the collection. In 2003, Burley accepted a full-time teaching position at Ryerson University’s School of Image Arts and suspended work at Design Archive Inc.
These fonds include photographic materials, including photographic prints, contact sheets, negatives, CDs, and other miscellaneous items that were collected by Design Archive Inc. from 1987 to 2003.

The collection consists of film related literature, films stills and productions packages collected over the course of the Toronto Film Society's history. The books were dispersed to Special Collections stacks or the Library general collection depending on age and condition. Film stills and packages have been catalogued and added to Special Collections. Several boxes of clipping files were also included in the collection and have been retained in Special Collections. Please consult the Library Catalogue for more information on individual titles.

Item is a handheld view master manufactured by Sawyer's Inc and first introduced at the New York World Fair (1939-1940). Item is made of plastic and metal. Reel of 7 diametrical, 16 mm colour transparencies of famous landmarks in British Columbia, Canada. The lever on the side of the viewer will rotate the reel one frame at a time once pressed. Reels are interchangeable and come with a variety of themes.

The Kodak Canada collection contains records and artifacts from the Kodak Heights manufacturing facility in Toronto, as well as the historical collection belonging to the Kodak Heritage Collection Museum. The collection consists of photographs, negatives, advertising records, magazines, pamphlets, daily record books, recipe books, cameras and other photographic equipment produced by Kodak Canada Inc., or other Kodak plants around the world. The collection includes a small selection of financial records, blueprints for Kodak facilities in Canada, and other corporate ephemera, as well as photographs of events, buildings and individual employees that illustrate the social life of the company.

On the front, above the image someone has handwritten in pencil "The Rock", and below in pencil "White Rock B.C". The back of the photograph is printed with a post card format. This image was developed on Velox photographic paper, the first commercially successful photo paper.

Peagam's studio in Toronto, Ontario. H.E. Peagam was photographer that had a studio at 32 Temperance Street in Toronto in 1893, and one at 254 Yonge Street in Toronto 1901 - 1922. The portrait of the boy is cut into an oval (measuring approx. 5 x 7 cm) and has a small even white border. The oval photograph is pasted onto a black piece of card measuring 9.25 x 13.25 cm. On the bottom right of the card is embossed with "H.E. Peagam, Toronto, ONT"

Small grey metal splicer for cutting and rejoining 8 mm film strips for at-home editing. Remnants of film strips were found in the splicer along with a crumpled piece of paper with instructions for use.

These devices were in use since the 1850's in the form of wooden frames with a reflecting surface (mirror) to light a negative and stabilize it for retouching work by knife, brush or pencil.
