The miniature flag is a representation of the Canadian flag at the time capsule was installed. It is the British red ensign which features the Union Jack in the upper corner (the canton), while the shield of the coat of arms of Canada made it distinctly Canadian.
Ivory elephant pendant and blue ribbon fragments
The small elephant pendant is a mystery as to its relevance to Maple Leaf Gardens or the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club. The fragmented blue ribbon suggests the pendant was originally hanging from it.

A long, narrow photograph gives a full length portrait of a man in a 3 piece suit all done in the same white flecked wool fabric. The coat is a little overlarge, probably a late 1860s style, and is buttoned at the top button only. He wears a striped ascot, and leans against a chair in front of a painted studio backdrop depicting a window and mantel. On the verso, a long text handwritten in pencil that indicates the sender (probably the man pictured in the card) could not come for New Year's as he had other obligations with a family called the Bowlys(?). He signs his initials "A.H." At the top left, in a different hand, "805/ 12.-".

Item is a white card with raised oval photograph of a woman with a lace collar. On verso, photographer's stamp lithographed in gold, "W. NOTMAN" with the Royal Crest at the centre and a ribbon wrapping that which reads "PHOTOGRAPHER TO/ HER MAJESTY" followed by the locations of studios in "MONTREAL/ OTTAWA/ TORONTO/ &/ HALIFAX". At four corners of the design are images of medals, which read clockwise from top left, "LONDON" "1862/ LONDINE/ HONORIS/ CAUSA/ 1862" "1867" and "NAPOLEON III EMPEROR/ PARIS". Her plain dark dress with lace collar has a tassled, perhaps leather(?) collar which hangs down to her waist in the front. On verso, two sets of stamped gold borders and a third of a floral pattern surround the text "THOMPSON/ & SON/ Photographers/ 75 King St. E./ TORONTO, ONT./ DUPLICATES CAN BE HAD AT ANY TIME/ BY SENDING NAME IN FULL." On the lower right, the photographer's studio is identified as "The O'Keefe's/ Guelph, Ontario". Two of the portraits are duplicates. The third portrait is identified as "Jennie". Each card has a piece of glassine tissue covering the photo inside.

Item is a grey and green mottled-pattern bi-fold card with, art nouveu floral design embossed into the upper left corner of the front flap. On the front of the right flap is embossed the name of the photographer: "Craswell/ Charlottetown, P.E.I." Inside, a photograph of a woman with a short haircut. The image is very dark, causing the rest of her body to be obscured. On the inside of the left flap, a handwritten note gives her name and the date.

The studio's name is given as "The Stride Studios". The sitter was identified as "Miss Helen Ballock." on a manilla envelope which contained the images. [Envelope removed]
