Kodak Heights aerial views 1963-2005

File consists of 9 colour aerial photographs of Kodak Canada's Kodak Heights facility at Eglinton Avenue and Weston Road, Toronto, Ontario. One photograph, likely taken circa 1986, shows the Kodak Heights building numbers. Some photographs dated on verso.

Item is an aerial photograph of the Kodak Heights complex in Toronto, Ontario. Printed below the image is a dedication: "In Appreciation Of Your Contribution This Print is Made From The First Roll of Ekacolor Edge 5 Coated at KCI on March 25th, 1996". Ektacolor Edge 5 is a glossy colour photographic paper that was produced at the Kodak Heights factory.

Dick Whittington

Magic lantern used to project this type of circular slide was of German design, and was available c.1850. Magic lantern slides were popular in the 1890s. This design was for domestic use, and the slide was illuminated by an oil lamp,and projected a circular image. The slides, often hand coloured, were often mounted six to a small disk. This one in particular has eight hand coloured images. It tells the story of Dick Whittington, and English folktale, the title is written on the slide in three languages, English, French and German (Gesetzlich Geschutzt). It is the story of a young man who makes his fortune in London, with his cat.

The rat-catcher of Hameln

This one in particular has eight hand coloured images. It tells the story of the pied piper or the rat-catcher of Hameln, a town in Germany, who comes into a small village and leads the rats away, only to return when he receives no payment, to lead the children away. The title is written on the slide in three languages, English, French (Le preneur de rats de Hameln) and German (Der rattenfanger v. Hameln)
