Albums

Series contains 24 photographic albums donated from Kodak Canada. Highlights include a series of 6 photograph albums documenting the construction of the first Kodak Heights buildings during the date range of 1913-1916 with indexes organizing the prints by building or site chronologically; these albums form a significant primary resource on industrial construction in the early 20th century.

Also included in the series are several family photograph albums spanning the range of 1920-1950 that portray recreational and family life in Southern Ontario as well as WWI subject matter; and a group of Kodak company albums documenting employee events, vacations, and social parties at Kodak.

Item is a blueprint showing the Kodak Heights property in 1930, including Eglinton and Yonge streets in Weston-Mount Denis area. The blueprint, created by the Ontario & Quebec Railway Co. and its lessee the Canadian Pacific Railway Co., outlines railway car clearances required for proposed additional buildings, number 5 and 8.

Negatives are organized by prior arrangement when processed, which was loosely based on the Kodak Canada's organization of the files in their archives index. Files of negatives originating from the previous index associated with the collection have been kept together, with the individual file numbers and index titles referenced in the Notes field of each record.

Black and white prints

Contains ca. 7500 b&w prints from the Kodak Canada Corporate Archives spanning the history of the company from 1900-2005. Highlights include early images of the Kodak Heights facilities, including construction of the first buildings ca. 1915. These prints also correspond to the series of Kodak Heights Albums that document the development of the property. Other images document the various industrial activities related to the production of photographic materials, cameras and moving images at Kodak Canada. Oversize prints include reproductions of portraits of George Eastman as well as images of his life and various leisurely activities.

Prints are organized by the order created when processed in 2005. This arrangement was loosely based on the Kodak Canada's original organization of the files in their archives index. Files of prints organized by the Kodak Canada Archives Index associated with the collection have been kept together, with the individual file numbers and index titles referenced in the Notes field of each record.

Brownie 8mm Movie Camera II

Item is a Brownie 8mm Camera II, It has a beige body with pop up frame finder on top. Side comes off to insert film spools. "Brownie movie camera T.M. Reg. Can. Pat. Off." Lens is "Kodak Series IV Adapter Ring No. 43 Made in U.S.A." f/2.7 lens. Settings for Bright Sun, Hazy Sun, Cloudy Bright and Open Shade.

Item is a small metal and black bakelite camera with Kodak Twindar Lens and settings indicated for scenes, groups or individuals. Made for use with Kodak 620 film, it features an eye-level viewfinder and a shutter release button on the front side, in front of the winding knob. It was also made in beige from 1958-1960.

Item is a small metal and bakelite camera with Kodak Twindar Lens and settings indicated for scenes, groups or individuals. Used Kodak 620 film. Outfit includes a presentation box with flash holder, one-time use flash bulbs (4 of 8 have been used), user's guide, strap, and Kodacolor II negative film.

An upgraded model of the Brownie Starlet without flash facilities, this camera features a large eyelevel viewfinder, Dakon lens and rotary shutter. Wrist strap attached. Item consists of a Kodak Brownie Bullet Camera. It is an eyelevel 127 roll film camera that was modeled as an upscale version of the Brownie Holiday. Other cameras with identical designs but different names include the Brownie Chiquita Camera and the Camera Brownie Chiquita. It is made of black Bakelite, and has a Dakon lens and a rotary shutter.

Item is a flash synchronized version of the Kodak Six-20 Brownie Special. Originally the Kodak Six-20 Flash Brownie when introduced in 1940, it was renamed Brownie Flash Six-20 in 1946. It is an eyelevel rollfilm camera with a sheet metal body and black leather casing, made for use with 620 film. Includes large flashgun attachment still mounted to body.

Brownie Reflex Synchro Model

Item is a small camera with black plastic and metal casing and a large folding hood over viewfinder. Made for use with 127 roll film, this camera different from the Kodak Brownie Reflex in that in featured a two-pin flash connector below the taking lens and had the shutter selector inverter. Similar to the Brownie Reflex, this Kodak Brownie Reflex Synchro is a twin lens reflex camera with a fixed-focus meniscus lens.

Item is a simple box camera with a black leatherette covered metal body, featuring an art deco design on the front panel. It took 8 2.25 x 3.25" exposures on 620 roll film. The lens features 2 focusing zones, "5 to 10 feet" and "beyond 10 feet" and uses a rotary shutter. Two brilliant viewfinders allow for portrait or landscape framing.

Brownie Starmatic

Item is a small automatic camera with a moulded black plastic body and metal fittings. Made for use with 127 roll film, it was the first automatic Brownie camera and a high end model of the Kodak Brownie Star series. It features a Kodar lens f/8 and an instant shutter setting, as well as a dial to select exposure with an Automatic Exposure option. It allows for the selection of film speed value to be selected in ASA and a reading to notify the photographer if flash is necessary. Because of these features, the popular photo sharing app "Starmatic" for Apple iPhone was named after this camera.
