Censorship Issues in the library

File contains textual records, Posters and buttons. Textual records relate to the library's treatment of various issues related to censorship including challenged books and Bill C-54. Buttons and posters were generated as part of the Library's protest against the proposed Bill C-54, which would have increased censorship.

Ryerson Works newsletter

The "Ryerson Works" newsletter is an online only publication published monthly starting in November of 2016 and published monthly. Human Resources sends hard copies of the newsletter to the Archives for preservation.

This series contains files regarding posters and other promotional material produced by the Department of English. Topics include lecture series, information nights about the department and the English program, and various workshops.

Library posters

Posters in this file were generated to promote Library events or programs, or to serve as wayfinders within the Library itself. Included are poster-signs asking people to be quiet; for example, the, "Lower The Volume on Cell Phones and Pagers" was posted behind plexiglass and dates to a time when students and other general public widely used pagers before smart phones (ca. 1995 - 2010).

Laying of the cornerstone - Howard Kerr Hall

File contains programmes and a platform seating chart for the laying of the cornerstone for Howard Kerr Hall. The cornerstone is located in the South East entrance off of the quadrangle - in Unit I. The ceremony took place May 12, 1959. The event was attended by Reverend A. W. Downer, Speaker of the Ontario Legislature; Dr. C. F. Cannon, chief director of Education for the province of Ontario; Mr. A. F. Lawrence, M. P. P. for St. George; T. Ray Connell, Minister of Public Works; B. R. Coon, Architect of Kerr Hall; Dana Porter, Chief Justice of Ontario; and W. J. Dunlop, Minister of Education.

RCTV Files

During the summer of 1969, an agreement was reached between the president of SURPI and Ryerson for a community television service to be operated under the direction of a board comprised of five representatives. The RCTV Board (two students, two administrators and one faculty member) set all programming policies and an executive committee of two RCTV board members was responsible for programming approval on a week to week basis. RCTV ceased to operate when equipment became obsolete and funding stopped in the late 1970s.

Subseries consists of four file folders and committee minutes pertaining to Ryerson Community Television. The records are those of the Director of Student Services who served as Chair of the RCTV Board. File also contains brochures about the program.

December 6th Memorial Committee

Subseries contains records relating to Ryerson's December 6th Memorial Committee. Sub-series is divided based on content into three files - textual records, posters, and an audio recording.

Wellesley Hospital Alumnae Honour Roll

Hand drawn illuminated scroll in brown wooden frame. The Wellesley Alumnae Honour roll was created the Alumnae Association and possibly hung in the Hospital.
The top of the scroll is the Canadian Coat of Arms surrounded by shields depicting individual elements of the Coat of Arms. Under this is written "For King and Country members of Wellesley Hospital Alumnae who have volunteered for active service with Canada's Fighting Forces". The names and affiliations of all the graduates who enlisted for service in World War II are listed.
