It was probably meant for a larger, possibly cabinet card mount, but the woman's style of dress is still close in date to the mount style, about mid-1880s.

Item is in a cream coloured card-frame embossed opening, with embossed letters "Potter's Patent March 7 1865." Which is how we dated the tintype. Photograph is a studio portrait of two women, both seated, arms resting on the one armrest with fringes. Woman on right is dressed all in black, with black hat and veil - perhaps mourning wear. The woman on the left is in full skirt with black trim and black top, white collar and black hat. Both have pink tinted cheeks.

Item is an unmounted studio portrait of four women. Two are sitting, and two stand between the seated ones. All cheeks have been tinted pink. They are wearing fitted dresses with skirts looping in front, narrow sleeves and high collars, most wear a brooch at the throat. Style is suggestive of 1880s fashion. Hair is up, with curled bangs. All four corners of tintype are angled off.

Item is an unmounted studio portrait of a woman in a black dress standing against a plain background. She has a pin at her throat, and a white collar is visible under her black coat. Same woman as in 2008.001.1825 but now she is wearing a hat, with feathers, flowers and a bow. The hat is in keeping with the fashion of the 1880s. In this photograph is mostly head and shoulders.

Her cheeks are tinted pink. Image is slightly blurry due to movement during exposure. Faint studio backdrop is visible in background.

Item has a yellow cardboard frame with tintype held in by three black photo corners. Handwritten in black ink on the yellow cardboards is "Mr and Mrs Neil Gardiner "Sister of Geo. Kimber." Tintype is a studio portrait of a couple, potentially Mr and Mrs Neil Gardiner. The man is sitting with arm on armrest, the other in his lap. The woman is standing beside him. He is wearing a suit jacket with vest and watch chain and bowler hat. She is wearing a coat, buttoned up and a hat with an ostrich feather. The tintype is rounded at the top and bottom edges. Both style hats suggest the image was taken in the 1880s.

Item is a black hinged case with daguerreotype inside, held in with a brass mat, cover glass and soft brass preserver. Closes with a metal clasp, but binding is no longer holding both covers together. The inside cover has the image, and back cover has a decorated red (faded) velvet cloth cushion. The image is of a young woman in a dress and jewellery which has been painted gold.

Item is a daguerreotype framed in gold with a cover glass but no case. Image is of a woman holding a book, looking right at camera. She wears a dark dress with big white lace collar. Looks as though it has been removed from its case, but still in cover glass and brass preserver.

[Five portraits of a woman]

Item consists of a black matt with five oval openings and a portrait in each. All five portraits are of the same woman, in different poses. In two of the portraits there is a parasol behind the woman, in one she is holding a top hat, in two others she is looking away from the camera. The black matt has flower details around each opening. On verso, sticker with "$3.50 sw." Same design as 2008.001.1891.

reproduction of drawing on cabinet card. Depicts oversize bed with many women in it, and a row of cradles with babies at the foot. Across the top of the bed is printed "Bringham Young's Bedstead". Above border of image, "THIS SHOP TO LET." A quote at the bottom of the image reads "And the place which knew him once shall know him no more for ever./ MOMENTUM CIRCUMSPICE./ FOR HIS MONUMENT LOOK AROUND!"

Print is captioned "Motherhood." It depicts a woman in a white fur-trimmed robe holding an infant in a white blanket. On verso, the work is identified as a Glaxo Baby Book advertisement. The envelope is addressed, Canadian-stamped, and cancelled.

Item consists of a black and white photograph of three women and thee girls sitting on the steps of a porch. The young woman on the left is wearing a dark dress and appears to be holding a camera. The woman in the middle is wearing white and holding a young girl in her lap. The woman on the right is wearing a dark dress and a wide brimmed hat with ornaments, and a sash. All three of the young girls are wearing white dresses. The house appears to be in a rural area.

Item consists of two black and white photographs of a woman lifting a baby out of a wicker baby carriage. The woman and carriage are on a walkway to the front of a house. There are some flowers in the background. The carriage is posed diagonally, baby and woman are looking at each other. The photos appear to be developed and fixed improperly, as there are liquid markings and fingerprints on the prints. The two images are identical but flipped and cropped differently. One is lighter than the other. On the back of each photograph is handwritten in black pen "Baby Rer. 6 wks."

Mr. L and I had half and hour 's argument- because I refused to sit upon the stump marked with a cross. if I had succeeded in getting on I should have fallen off backwards because it was much steeper behind than in front. Item is an unmounted studio portrait of a woman standing, and a man sitting. The woman is turned to the man, who is facing the camera. She is holding a book and he is sitting with his legs crossed, one hand on his lap, and the other on the armrest. The studio backdrop is of a tree. Her dress with the bustle and slim sleeves and her soft curly bangs are in keeping with fashion of the 1880s. All four corners of the tintype are angled off.

Woman on right has a dark dress, buttons down the front with a small white collar, in fashion in the 1860s. Her hair is shoulder lenght ringlets, also in fashion in the 1860s. Both have pink tinted cheeks.

The two women wear long dresses and big hats, with feathers. Their hands are folded in their laps and they look right at the camera. Left top and bottom corners angled off.

Item is an albumen portrait adhered onto a calling card or visiting card made of cardboard. Card frame is cream coloured, and deckled. On left side is the small portrait of a woman, standing with her arms resting on the top of a chair made of rough wood. Set in a studio. Next to the image is the inscription (on recto) "Maude Rymal," in descriptive writing. It is assumed that the woman in the portrait is Maude Rymal and that this is her calling card.
