The cloth shutter has a range of 30 sec. - 1/1000th sec. as well as bulb and flash synch. The metal camera body was available only in black and accepts lenses with the Canon FD bayonet lens mount. Inlcudes a 50mm F1.8 lens.

This model was also called the Canon Digital IXUS 400 in the Europe and South East Asia, and the IXY Digital 400 in Japan. When released, the camera was sold for $500 in the USA.
