Out from Under : Disability, History & Things to Remember - exhibition catalogue

Out from Under was curated by faculty members from Disability Studies with an exhibit displayed at Royal Ontario Museum (ROM, April - July 2008. Their work was supported by the RBC Foundation through the Ryerson-RBC Institute for Disabilities Studies Research and Education.

The curatorial team, Associate Professor Kathryn Church, Professor of Distinction Catherine Frazee, and Director Melanie Panitch, launched a new special topic seminar designed to uncover the hidden history of disability. Students were invited to identify an object representing a particular era or moment in Canadian disability history and explore its significance.

From Cradle to Computer books

File contains six copies of the book, "From Cradle to Computer, A history of St. James Square, the birthplace of Ontario education" written by Ryerson history professor, Ronald Stagg and published for Ontario's Bicentennial.

Ryerson Polytechnical Institute

Photographs - oversized

File contains three black and white photographs of the Toronto Training and Re-Establishment Institute and of a class being held in the Normal School classroom that were displayed at the Bicentennial Display.

History of Ryerson film

The file contains the "History of Ryerson" film on three formats. The VHS copy was dubbed from the original 3/4 inch tape and was screened at Ryerson's Ontario Bicentennial display.

Every hour an occasion : women's dress 1900-1910

Item is a brochure promoting an exhibition of Edwardian women's dress held at the Oliver Baker Lounge, Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, October 2 - 20, 1989. Katherine Cleaver was the exhibition curator. Brochure also advertises talks by Toronto Historian Mike Filey and Costume Historian and Toronto Public Library Fine Arts Librarian, Alan Suddon.

Records related to Kodak's exhibition partnership with Cultural Innovations : the Advisory Services of the Royal Ontario Museum

File contains records created as a result of the Kodak Heritage Collection's partnership with Cultural Innovations: the Advisory Services of the Royal Ontario Museum. Cultural Innovations was hired by Kodak Canada to consult on Kodak's exhibition, Past Preserved, Future Defined, and worked with Kodak from December 1998 until the exhibition opened at Kodak Heights in June 1999. Records pertain to all aspects of exhibition design and execution and include: Cultural Innovations' original proposal; project schedules and budgets; concept design documents; floorplans and other diagrams; text panel drafts; fabric samples; correspondence; and other ephemera.

File consists of draft and finalized labels for a display consisting of a naval gunsighting telescope and Mark III and IX compasses and their component parts. Includes photocopied images of the display. Mark III and IX compasses and naval gunsighting telescopes were produced by Canadian Kodak Co. during WWII.
