Athletic Awards banners

Two gold nylon banners with blue writing on them. They hung in the Howard Kerr Hall gym until in 1998, the gold banners were replaced with royal blue ones.

RG 30.003.001.001: (90 x 119 cm) Gold banner Rams head outlined in blue. “Outstanding Athlete Female” stitched in blue. A velcro strip at the bottom of the banner allowed for the yearly award winner’s name to be attached.

RG 30.003.001.002: (90 x 186cm) Gold banner with Rams head outlined in blue and “Greatest Contribution To Athletics Female” stitched in blue. A Velcro strip at the bottom of the banners allowed for the yearly award winner’s name to be attached. The attached banner (90cm x 45cm) displays the 1997 winner’s name “Marie-Claire Ross”.

The Puckster's Publication - Ryerson University Rams [men's] hockey

The Puckster's report is a yearbook for men's hockey at Ryerson. Updated yearly to include the previous seasons information - it includes an alphabetical list of team players and years played, history of the hockey program, standings by year, hockey game results by year, list of captains and captains, and list of hockey team players who won athletic awards and letters.
File contains copies for the 2009-2010, 2010-2011, 2011-2012, and 2013-2014 seasons.

Men's Hockey team alumni files

File contains correspondence from members of the Men's Hockey Alumni regarding the annual alumni game and annual golf tournament. The hockey alumni used to host an independent golf tournament with proceeds going to the University's hockey program. In 2004 the University joined with the Hockey Alumni to host the 1st annual Ryerson Building Champions Golf Classic - with money going to student athlete bursaries. In 2005 the Hockey alumni combined their golf tournament with the Building Champions tournament - with proceeds going to student athlete bursaries.
Also in the file is a DVD containing scans of newspaper clippings from the Ryersonian newspaper, and hockey images from the RG 95.1 Journalism collection for the 1961-1965 hockey teams. DVD created as a handout to participants in the alumni game that were on Ryerson's Men's hockey team between 1961 and 1965.

Ryerson Institute of Technology pennant

File consists of a cardboard pennant with a picture of a football player holding a football for a child ready to kick it. Ryerson was involved in “Save The Children College Bowl” event and at the banquet on each table was a similar pennant representing each organization participating in this event.

O. W. I. A. A. Women's basketball scoresheets

The Ontario Women's Interuniversity Athletic Association (O.W.I.A.A.) provided athletic competition for women students in the universities of Ontario. It was ngleness of purpose. It was formed in 1971 with the amalgamation of the Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Union (WIAU)(1923) Ontario-Quebec Women's Conference of Intercollegiate Athletics (O-QWCIA).
File contains 2 score sheets from games played by the Ryerson Lady Rams basketball team as part of the O. W. I. A. A. league. The first sheet is for a game played on November 17, 1973 against Trent University in the Peterborough Highschool gymnasium. Ryerson won with a score of 21-25. The second score sheet was from a game played January 24, 1974 against the University of Toronto at Toronto. Ryerson lost 34-24.

1999 CIAU Championship Basketball Finals materials

The 1999 CIAU men's basketball finals were held in Halifax, Nova Scotia March 19-21, 1999. The eight teams participating were the University of Alberta Golden Bears, Western University Mustangs, Bishops University Gaiters, McMaster University Marauders, University of Victoria Vikes, Brandon University Bobcats, Saint Mary's Huskies, and the Ryerson Polytechnic University Rams. The Saint Mary's Huskies won the CIAU title.
The file contains a signed (by Ram's team members) tournament program, Vol. 1 No. 3 of Hoop Hype - the CIAU final 8 newsletter, and photocopies of the final scorer's reports for Ryerson's games on March 19 - vs University of Alberta and March 20 - vs Bishop's University.

Ontario Intercollegiate Athletic Association (O.I.A.A)

The Ontario Intercollegiate Athletic Association (O. I. A. A.) was founded in 1958 with a membership including McMaster University, Ontario Agricultural College (Guelph), Osgoode Hall University, Ryerson Institute of Technology (TMU), University of Waterloo.
File contains the constitution, a letter and accompanying package regarding membership, stats etc (1963), and meeting minutes/notes.

Report Of The Committee to Investigate Football at Ryerson

The Committee to Investigate Football at Ryerson, commissioned by the Athletic Directorate, consisted of two staff members, two students and was chaired by Brian Milligan. Committee consulted faculty, other universities/colleges, coaches, players, and students. The results were submitted to the Athletic Directorate and the Ryerson football program was disbanded.
Included in the file is one copy of the final report submitted to the Athletic Directorate.

Included are a Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union game report (blank), football play sheet, rules and regulations (circa 1962) for sports, soccer team memo, athletics open house invite, and a brochure for the 1991 Duracell University Hockey Challenge held at Varsity Arena.

Ryerson Basketball Classic - 1st annual invitational basketball tournament

The first annual Ryerson Invitational [men's] basketball tournament was held November 22 and 23, 1963. The participating schools were Hamilton Institute of Technology, Ontario Agricultural College, Osgoode Hall, St. Michael's College, University of Montreal, Waterloo Lutheran University, and York University.
Included in the file are a photocopy of the program, team rosters, and informational news releases about the tournament.
