North York Central Library / Crown Life Building

Architect's model of the stepped library building, with arched main entrance, an atrium connecting six floors, curved staircases, and semi-circular balconies. Design by Moriyama and Teshima. Adhered to the same paper backing is a photo of an artist's illustration of the Crown Life building by Bregman + Hamann.

MOLINDEX and RILOSH

The file contains documentation for the index system, MOLINDEX, developed by the Ministry of Labour library. In 1996, the Ministry of Labour's library was closed and its collection and staff were transferred to the Ryerson library, including the serial database, MOLINDEX (MOL index). Ministry staff continued to have access to the collection through Inter Library Loan.

RILOSH, Ryerson International Labour, Occupational Safety and Health Index, was produced by the Ryerson library as a continuation of MOLINDEX and was implemented in 1998.

Ladner, Ladner Pioneer Library

Folder contains 6 b&w photographs of the Ladner Pioneer Library in Ladner, B.C. Established in 1930, the Fraser Valley Regional Library System was the first of its kind in North America. Today it is the largest public library system in British Columbia, with 24 community libraries serving 650,000 people in its service area. The article was published in Canadian Architect yearbook, 1964, p. 48-49. Architects on the project were Richard B. Archambault, J. Blair Macdonald and Barry V. Downs.

Pullan, Selwyn

Metro Toronto Reference Library

Built in 1977, this building was featured in the July 1984 issue of Canadian Architect magazine on atriums. Interior and exterior views. The name was changed to "Toronto Reference Library" in 1998 when it was incorporated into the Toronto Public Library system. It is the biggest public reference library in Canada.
