Biographical history

David Naylor is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Ryerson University. Naylor earned his BESc (1983), his MESc (1985), and his PhD (1992) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario. Prior to joining the faculty at Ryerson, Naylor was an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Heat Transfer Laboratory at Queen's University, Kingston (1991-1993) and a Nuclear Systems Engineer for Ontario Hydro (1985-1988). His research involves experimental and numerical heat transfer, with a focus on building energy conservation. He has published over one hundred papers in refereed journals and conferences, more than twenty industry technical reports, and is the co-author of a graduate-level textbook on convective heat transfer. He is the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Transport Phenomena and has received numerous awards throughout the course of his career, including the 2014 Research and Development Medal from Professional Engineers Ontario and the 2008 Research Excellence Award from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture & Science at Ryerson University. In 2013, he was made a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
