Alexander McKenzie Cunningham operated a photography studio that was located at 3 James Street East, Hamilton, Ontario. They specialized in the platinum photographic process.

Item consists of a grey folded card card with art nouveau decoration at upper left, and the text "PLATINUM PORTRAIT/ BY/ A.M. CUNNINGHAM/ 3. James Str. N./ HAMILTON". Inside, glassine tissue and an oval photograph of an older woman with embroidered jacket and high collared lace blouse mounted on cream card. At the bottom of the photograph, handwritten in pencil, "Cunningham/ 09".

Physical condition

Fair. The mount is badly water stained on the front. The corners are torn away at the top and bottom right. The tissue is yellowed and the cream mount inside is foxing. The print is in excellent condition.
