Lantern slide, glass B&W slide in wood frame. Image framed in black and gold paint? Handwrtten in ink on a sticker on the glass "1771 Prebischtor cote ouest (Suisse - Saxonne)" and in print "Oelschlaeger Bros., 88, Fulton Street (New York)." Image is of a rock/natural bridge in mountains, it is called the Prebischtor or the Pravcicka Gate.

Devil's Bridge

Lantern slide, glass B&W slide in wood frame. Image framed in black and gold. Sticker on glass handwritten in pencil "Devils Bridge" and perhaps the word "Switzerland." In print "E. & H. T. Anthony & Co. New York." Image of two bridges spanning a river, in a canyon. Research showed that it is the Devil's bridge of St. Gotthard's Pass in Switzerland. It is recorded that the first bridge was destroyed by a flood in 1888, and the second bridge was built in 1826 and third one in 1958. This image shows two bridges, the original and the second which is why the slide is date ca. 1826-1888.
