RYESERT - Ryerson Student Emergency Response Team

RyeSERT (Ryerson Student Emergency Response Team) is a volunteer based student group that provides on-site medical coverage at Ryerson events and in all Ryerson residences. RyeSERT is made up of students with backgrounds as firefighters, paramedics, first responders, lifeguards, and those just interested in serving the Ryerson community with a genuine desire to help others.

Series contains records and artifacts related to the Ryerson Student Emergency Response Team.

Ryer's Inn

Ryer's Inn was organized and presented by students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program. It was modeled after the Cornell University event "Ezra Cornell Hotel". Its purpose was to show members of the Hospitality Industry what Ryerson's program had to offer by showcasing its' students. The event is completely organized and executed by student's in the program, with faculty supervision. It's inaugural night was held February 28, 1981. Series contains information about Ryer's Inn galas held in 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1985.

Trinidad & Tobago hotel school

In September of 1972 Ryerson entered into an agreement with the Government of Canada, through the Canadian International Development Agency (C.I.D.A.) to provide technical and related assistance to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for the establishment of a hotel training school, and the training of the faculty and staff to run it.
Sub-series consists of 49 files relating to the establishment of a hotel training school on one of the islands and contain correspondence, agreements, minutes, reports, financial data, personnel records, clippings, background materials, curriculum documents, and photographs.

Program information files

Series contains materials related to the courses offered by the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Included are curriculum related materials, program proposals, promotional literature, and program assessment reports.

Facilities

Series contains materials related to training facilities used by students of the Hospitality and Tourism (HTM) as part of their education. Included is information on the International Dining Room, the Delta Hotels-Sheraton Corporation Hotel Computer lab, and minimal information on HTM's involvement with the International Living Learning Centre. The materials have been arranged by facility.

Publications

Series contains published materials related to the School of Hospitality. The majority of the materials were created by the School and its students. Included are yearbooks, hiring booklets, and newsletters. There is also an external directory about Ontario schools offering Hospitality programs.

Hospitality Update conferences

Series contains materials relating to "Hospitality Update" an annual conference held at Ryerson. The conference is a national one for students in Hospitality and Tourism. Included are materials from the 1973, 1983, 1987, 1993, 1994, and 2000 conferences.

Administrative records

Series contains administrative type materials related to the Hospitality department. Included are class and faculty lists, new student orientation materials, an office stamp, departmental sign stencil, job postings, memos, correspondence and other materials related to the running of the department.

Seminars

Series contains textual records as of 2005 that are related to seminars and workshops organized by the Department of Mathematics, which include the Mathematics Colloquium, the Master's Seminars, Graphs at Ryerson (G@R) seminars and workshops, and the Biomathematics and Fluids Seminar series.

Promotional materials

Series contains job postings for the Department of Mathematics and promotional material related to the Mathematics and Its Applications program.

Executive Committee minutes and records

This series consists of minutes and correspondence and is arranged chronologically. Some items in the series, especially for the years 1967-1976, are from the RFA documentation files. Subsequent donations of materials have been arranged within the original materials. RG 91.01.02 contains minutes from RFA Representation in Institute and Executive Committees.

RFA Correspondence

This series consists primarily of memoranda and letters: from the Executive (in most cases, the President) to the members-at-large; between the RFA and internal and external bodies, or persons; and from faculty to the Executive.

Administrative and Internal Records

This series contains documents and records related to the administration and internal communications of the Department of History during the years of 1967-2012. The series has been divided into four files - course syllabi, correspondence, curriculum vitae, and job postings

Lectures, Conferences, and seminars

This series contains documents and records created by the history department which pertain to specific lecture series and guest lecturers and seminars. The two primary sub-series are Ryerson Lectures in the History of Technology, and the International Issues Discussion series. Documents range from the 1970's to 2010.

Convocation materials

Series contains textual and multimedia materials created for use during and taken of convocation ceremonies at Ryerson. Included are ceremony dvds, tickets, information bulletins, and programmes.
As of 2014 tickets were sent electronically and are currently done using QR code technology. Because of the COVID 19 pandemic, programmes for the ceremonies stopped being published in 2020.

Dennis Mock Student Leadership Awards

Series contains materials created in conjunction with the Dennis Mock Student Leadership Awards. Items include invitations, and programs. Series has been sub-divided by year.
Prior to 2007, the awards were under the jurisdiction of University Advancement. As of 2016, The Dennis Mock Leadership Awards are under the purvue of the Office of Student Awards and Scholarships in the office of the Registrar.

Recognition and Awards

Recognition and Awards are organized by the Ceremonial Office. They are divided under three headings with various awards for each.

Teaching and Education awards - Chancellor's Award of Distinction, President's Award for Teaching Excellence, Provost's Experiential Teaching Award, Provost's Innovative Teaching Award, Provost's Interdisciplinary Teaching Award, YSGS Outstanding Contribution to Graduate Education Awards, and Dean's Teaching Award - faculty and contract lecturers

Scholarly, Research and Creative Activity awards - Sarwan Sahota Ryerson Distinguished Scholar Award, Collaborative Research Award, Early Research Career Excellence Award, Knowledge Mobilization & Engagement Award, Social Innovation & Action Research Award, and Deans' Scholarly, Research and Creative Activity Awards

Service and Leadership awards - President's Blue and Gold Award of Excellence, Alan Shepard Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Employee Award, Errol Aspevig Award for Outstanding Academic Leadership, Linda Grayson Administrative Leadership Awards, Larissa Allen Employee Experience Staff Award, and Julia Hanigsberg Make your mark staff awards

All of the awards are celebrated at an annual Ryerson Awards night, but there are also smaller events held in conjunction with the various awards held before the annual ceremony. The recognition and awards series has been divided by year.

Installation of President

Series contains files documenting and relating to the installation of new Ryerson presidents which falls under the purvue of the Ceremonials Office.

Commerce Society orientation materials

Series contains documents and other materials created and used by the Ryerson Commerce Society for the Ted Rogers School of Management Frosh week activities. Includes a data CD that contains photographs of one of the events.

Ryerson Commerce Society student groups

Series contains records relating to student groups under the umbrella of the Ryerson Commerce Society, including BizBudz, DECA Ryerson, Information Technology Management Student Association (ITMSA), Ryerson Business Forum, Ryerson Marketing Association (RMA), SIFE, and Women in Information Technology Management (WITM). Includes textual records and graphic materials.
