The original buildings to which the new Algonquin work was added was not considered to be of sufficient architectural merit to necessitate continuation of the forms and details and this has allowed the older work, but owing nothing to it visually...The Jury felt that the apparent thickness of exterior wall construction denoted by the sloping sills and generally massive forms belied the long masonry spans and cantilevered corners that are more turly expressive of concrete technology..."
