Series contains original drawings done by Ben Wicks for his syndicated single frame cartoon and for 4 books.
The syndicated cartoons date from January 1, 1997 to December 27, 1997. The books include "Born to Read and Write" 1996, "Life Insurance for Seniors" 1996, "Sure we're covered...Aren't we?" 1996, and "So you've got Cancer" 1997.

Wicks, Alfred (Ben)

Series contains original drawings from Ben Wicks' "The Outcasts" serial and syndicated single frame cartoons. The "Outcasts" series dates from January 9, 1995 to July 27, 1996. The syndicated single frames date from January 2, 1995 to December 28, 1996.

Wicks, Alfred (Ben)

Digital Media Zone

Series contains materials related to the DMZ, a business incubator and co-working space for technology-based entrepreneurs with a mandate to help startups succeed by connecting them with customers, advisors, influencers and other entrepreneurs.

Based in offices in the Dundas Square building at Ryerson University, the Zone is run by students and open to both students and non-students to apply with business ideas and prototypes. Accepted startups receive four months of free co-working space and services (after which they can pay a membership fee to stay on), and access to seed funding and an accelerator program through Ryerson Futures Inc. (RFI), a for-profit business associated with Ryerson. The DMZ also offers an "Innovation-for-Hire" program that laccesses expertise associated with the DMZ and Ryerson University to solve real business problems for industry partners as well as an intrapreneur program.

As of April 2014, the DMZ was home to 62 startups and a group of 75 alumni startups. The companies incubating at the DMZ reflected a mix of Ryerson-affiliated startups and non-Ryerson affiliates.

The DMZ was the first of an network of other "zones" at the University, each specializing in growth sectors to support new entrepreneurs.

Atkinson Lecture Series materials

The Atkinson Lecture series , established in 1974, came from a $50,000 grant obtained by Doug MacFarlane, then chairperson of the Journalism Department, from the Atkinson Foundation. The Atkinson Foundation was established to commemorate the late Joseph E. Atkinson, publisher of The Star from 1899-1948. The lecture series was intended to bring journalists to Ryerson to examine the role and relationships of media in today's society. The series, initially held twice a year, had its first lecture December 4, 1974.
Series contains materials created in relation to the lecture series. Included are posters, correspondence, and taped recordings of the lectures.

Assignment photographs

Series consists of 7,278 photographic negatives or b&w prints created by Ryerson staff and students in the 1950's and 1960's. The photographs were taken for use in the student newspaper, "The Ryersonian" ; the academic course calendar ; the yearbook ; and other school publications. Contact prints for the majority of the collection are available for viewing in our reading room. Negatives are in the process of being scanned.

Journalism magazines

Sub-series consists of magazines produced by the Journalism program: The Ryerson Magazine, Images, The Magazine, and The Ryerson Review of Journalism which went online in December 1997.
Also included is one ticket to the 30th anniversary celebration of The Ryerson Review of Journalism.

Toronto General Hospital

The Toronto General Hospital. On August 25, 1948, The Wellesley Hospital amalgamated with Toronto General Hospital - becoming the Wellesley Division of Toronto General Hospital. They would remain that way until 1960, when Wellesley became an independent hospital once again.
Series contains materials relating to the Toronto General Hospital, and to its amalgamation with The Wellesley.

Transfer of Schools of Nursing to Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology

Series contains correspondence, reports and associated materials relating to the transfer of Schools of Nursing from the Hospitals to the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. The majority of the materials relate specifically to the transfer of The Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing to Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.

Special Events

Series contains items and files related to various events held by The Wellesley Hospital. Included events are long service awards, the Wellesley Auxiliary anniversary, the 25 year club, and the cornerstone laying and grand opening of the Medical Building.

Reports

Series consists of Reports created by various departments and organizations in the Wellesley Hospital. Included are annual reports from the Wellesley Auxiliary, The Board of Governors, and the Research Institute.

Photographs

Series contains photographs associated with The Wellesley Hospital. Many of them were taken by the hospital's public relations department and published in Wellesley World and other hospital publications. Files include staff members, nursing, education, events, equipment, and facilities.

Published works

Series contains published materials created by or about the Wellesley Hospital. Included in the series are 2 copies of the book written by Hospital founder Dr. Herbert Bruce, 2 copies of the Wellesley Hospital history book written by Joan Hollobon, and numerous magazines and newsletters written by Wellesley Hospital for the staff and the general public.

Photographs

Series contains photographs relating to the Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association members and events. Topics include scholarship winners, bazaars, card parties, dinners, luncheons, fashion shows, Hospital 60th Anniversary events, executive members, and reunions.

Artifacts

Series contains artifacts created and/or used by the Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association. Included are silver tea sets and coffee urns, a shovel used in the sod turning for the nurses residence in 1951 and later gifted to the Alumnae Assocation, and an embossing die used for printing.

Ryerson Commerce Society student groups

Series contains records relating to student groups under the umbrella of the Ryerson Commerce Society, including BizBudz, DECA Ryerson, Information Technology Management Student Association (ITMSA), Ryerson Business Forum, Ryerson Marketing Association (RMA), SIFE, and Women in Information Technology Management (WITM). Includes textual records and graphic materials.

Commerce Society orientation materials

Series contains documents and other materials created and used by the Ryerson Commerce Society for the Ted Rogers School of Management Frosh week activities. Includes a data CD that contains photographs of one of the events.

Installation of President

Series contains files documenting and relating to the installation of new Ryerson presidents which falls under the purvue of the Ceremonials Office.

Recognition and Awards

Recognition and Awards are organized by the Ceremonial Office. They are divided under three headings with various awards for each.

All of the awards are celebrated at an annual Ryerson Awards night, but there are also smaller events held in conjunction with the various awards held before the annual ceremony. The recognition and awards series has been divided by year.

Dennis Mock Student Leadership Awards

Series contains materials created in conjunction with the Dennis Mock Student Leadership Awards. Items include invitations, and programs. Series has been sub-divided by year.
Prior to 2007, the awards were under the jurisdiction of University Advancement. As of 2016, The Dennis Mock Leadership Awards are under the purvue of the Office of Student Awards and Scholarships in the office of the Registrar.

Convocation materials

Series contains textual and multimedia materials created for use during and taken of convocation ceremonies at Ryerson. Included are ceremony dvds, tickets, information bulletins, and programmes.
As of 2015 the tickets are all done electronically.

Faculty and Staff Photographs

This series contains 5 photographs of 3 professors from the History Department at Ryerson University. The dates of the photographs are 1978. 4 of the photographs are black and white with one negative.

Posters and Graphic Material

This series contains posters and advertising material from lecture series and seminars hosted and sponsored by the history department of Ryerson University from the 1970's to the present. The majority of the posters in the series are apart of the International Issues Discussion Series, and the rest are from the History of Technology Lecture series and seminars. However 1 poster is from a sponsored seminar with a senior representative of the Red Cross.

Lecture Series and Guest Lectures

This series contains documents and records created by the history department which pertain to specific lecture series and guest lecturers and seminars. The two primary lecture series that have been started and sponsored by the history department are the History Technology series and the International Issues Discussion series. Documents range from the 1970's to 2010.

Administrative and Internal Records

This series contains documents and records related to the administration and internal communications of the Department of History during the years of 1967-2012. The majority of the series is contained in the correspondence file, which hold records relating to internal memorandums, request for sabbaticals, motions, speeches, and other documentation created by the department and its members. Other files include the course syllabuses, which include syllabuses and other course material for several history department courses in 1975/76. The finale file is a series of job postings (both internal and external), curriculum vitae, and resumes of members of the department.

RFA Correspondence

This series consists primarily of memoranda and letters: from the Executive (in most cases, the President) to the members-at-large; between the RFA and internal and external bodies, or persons; and from faculty to the Executive.

Executive Committee minutes and records

This series consists of minutes and correspondence and is arranged chronologically. Some items in the series, especially for the years 1967-1976, are from the RFA documentation files. Subsequent donations of materials have been arranged within the original materials. RG 91.01.02 contains minutes from RFA Representation in Institute and Executive Committees.

Promotional materials

Series contains job postings for the Department of Mathematics and promotional material related to the Mathematics and Its Applications program.

Seminars

Series contains textual records as of 2005 that are related to seminars and workshops organized by the Department of Mathematics, which include the Mathematics Colloquium, the Master's Seminars, Graphs at Ryerson (G@R) seminars and workshops, and the Biomathematics and Fluids Seminar series.

Administrative records

Series contains administrative type materials related to the Hospitality department. Included are class and faculty lists, new student orientation materials, an office stamp, departmental sign stencil, job postings, memos, correspondence and other materials related to the running of the department.

Hospitality Update conferences

Series contains materials relating to "Hospitality Update" an annual conference held at Ryerson. The conference is a national one for students in Hospitality and Tourism. Included are materials from the 1973, 1983, 1987, 1993, and 1994 conferences.

Publications

Series contains published materials related to the School of Hospitality. The majority of the materials were created by the School and its students. Included are yearbooks, hiring booklets, and newsletters. There is also an external directory about Ontario schools offering Hospitality programs.

Facilities

Series contains materials related to training facilities used by students of the Hospitality and Tourism (HTM) as part of their education. Included is information on the International Dining Room, the Delta Hotels-Sheraton Corporation Hotel Computer lab, and minimal information on HTM's involvement with the International Living Learning Centre. The materials have been arranged by facility.

Program information files

Series contains materials related to the courses offered by the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Included are curriculum related materials, program proposals, promotional literature, and program assessment reports.

Trinidad & Tobago hotel school

In September of 1972 Ryerson entered into an agreement with the Government of Canada, through the Canadian International Development Agency (C.I.D.A.) to provide technical and related assistance to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for the establishment of a hotel training school, and the training of the faculty and staff to run it.
Sub-series consists of 49 files relating to the establishment of a hotel training school on one of the islands and contain correspondence, agreements, minutes, reports, financial data, personnel records, clippings, background materials, curriculum documents, and photographs.

Photographs

Series contains photographs relating to the School of Hospitality. Included are photographs of staff, students, events, locations, and visitors.

Ryer's Inn

Ryer's Inn was organized and presented by students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program. It was modeled after the Cornell University event "Ezra Cornell Hotel". Its purpose was to show members of the Hospitality Industry what Ryerson's program had to offer by showcasing its' students. The event is completely organized and executed by student's in the program, with faculty supervision. It's inaugural night was held February 28, 1981. Series contains information about Ryer's Inn galas held in 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1985.

Series consists of textual records from School of Health Services Management including correspondence, reports, notes, resumes, proposals, meeting minutes.
