Toronto scenes

Two black and white night scenes of Toronto ; one captures Yonge St., A &A and SAM the Record Man (1988) the other a moonlight background of the CN tower and the city (1990). Also four black and white photos of day scenes of the CN tower and the TTC platform at Sheppard subway (1988).

Oversized letter from Terrence Grier to Ryerson Community re: University Status

2 copies of an oversized poster made by blowing up a letter written by Terrence Grier to All Members of the Ryerson Community on May 20, 1993: "It is my great pleasure to inform you that Bill 1, an Act to Amend the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute act, 1977, and the Universities Foundations Act, 1992, received its third and final reading in the Legislature on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 18th. Following the formality of royal assent and proclamation, we will be Ryerson Polytechnic University in fact and law. As a result, our 1993 graduands will be the first to receive degrees, diplomas and certificates bearing the new university designation at spring convocation ceremonies, June 16-18. In the meantime, may I extend my sincere appreciation to all of you for helping to make this historic occasion possible. I know that we all look forward to participating in the development of Ryerson Polytechnic University in the months and years ahead. Sincerely, Terrence Grier."

This is Ryerson publication

A series of promotional materials designed and produced in three formats: posters, booklets, and brochures. It is assumed that all three were designed and produced by the Community Relations Department (formerly Information Services), for distribution by both Community Relations and the Admissions Liaison Advising Office.

Ryerson University Week

A collection of posters, clippings, and a community notice documenting the many events during "Ryerson Week" October 11-15 1993, to celebrate Ryerson's university status, a joint venture of Ryesac (RSU), Community Relations and the President's Office. Also in the collection are seven O/S reproductions of articles re. Ryerson's University Status, mounted on foamcore display panels (72cm x 60cm). These panels were part of a display in the Olive Baker Lounge during "Ryerson Week", arranged by Student Services with assistance from the Archives.

Continuing Education - miscellaneous (book 4)

Ken Burkhardt explains the operation of the K-cycle engine, a Canadian invention originating in Winnipeg -- May 1981 Festival of Energy, Canadian Energy Exposition, entertainers Michael Ross and Sandy pantomine an impatient driver, the annoyance he/she creates and the energy wasted, Sherwood Hume, Milton, Ontario and his 1913 Saywer and Massey steam engine, students and teachers examining energy projects exhibits in the gym and also students enjoying energy games at the festival.

A few color negatives from the cover of the "This is Ryerson" and "Explore Ryerson" (1981-1988). The cover booklet for the Faculty of Community Services (summer 1987) "This is Ryerson 1987/88" is included. An "Explore Ryerson" poster negative (1983) , a picture of a red stop sign and red apple can be found also in this file. There are also other negatives from the Ryerson Folder (1981).

Community Relations photographs - head shots

A collection of black and white photographs and negatives of individuals (head shots) maintained by the Community Relations Department, formerly the Information Services Department, and then the University Advancement Office. The majority of the images are of faculty and staff. The photographs were primarily used for reproduction in the Ryerson publication "FORUM".

File contains photographs of Larissa Allen. At the time the photographs were taken she was the Associate Director of Human Resources, and the Director of Human Resources respectively.

Commerce Times Newspaper

The Commerce Times newspaper was a School of Business focused newspaper that was produced as a collaboration between the Ted Rogers School of Management, The School of Journalism, and the School of Graphic Communications Management. The first edition was published November 11, 2008. The last publication date appears to have been March 16, 2010.

Commerce Management appears to have been a yearly publication highlighting Business Management, Graphic Communications Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Technology Management, International Economics, and Retail Management. The publication also has general University information published on the backpage.

Charles S. Temple file

Included in the file is correspondence regarding staffing, hotel school in Columbo, Sri Lanka, a name tag and conference materials for the Society of Industrial Accountants of Canada golden anniversary conference, and a letter from Charles Temple to the Ryerson Community regarding his leaving Ryerson to work with Hotel School in Jamaica for Ryerson and C.I.D.A.

MBA Case Teams Success Celebration

As part of Ryerson's Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program students are encouraged to compete together in national and international case competitions and the annual MBA games.
File contains a photograph of the 2013 Case teams with Faculty members. The members are wearing white and red scarves. The matting around the photograph has the University Crest at the top and "Ted Rogers School of Management MBA Case Teams Success Celebration February 4, 2013" written under the photo on the bottom left side. Sheldon Levy signed the matting.

Business Building Open House

File contains an email sent through campus news about the Ryerson Community Open House held Friday October 13, 2006 in the new Faculty of Business Building at 55 Dundas St. West. Also in the file are two posters about the event.

Distinguished Lectures

File contains notices about a distinguished lecture in Creativity, Design and Information Technology given by Dr. Ben Shneiderman on October 12, 2006. The lecture was jointly hosted by the Faculty of Communication and Design and the Faculty of Business.

Curriculum Committee

The curriculum committee was formed in 1960 by the Executive Council of the Business Division.
File contains a summary of conclusions from the Business Curriculum Committee dated November 1, 1961 and sent to all department heads. Also in the file is an undated (circa 1973-1975 based on group members) minutes from the Curriculum Review Committee for Business Administration.

Surveying instrument - Keuffel & Esser Co.

A surveying instrument, with wooden case, manufactured by Keuffel & Esser Co. of New York/Hoboken, N.J. Model No. 5155. Serial No. 98236. A label inside the case indicates that this instrument was repaired and adjusted by Carsen Instruments Ltd. of Toronto in 1962. Historical synopsis of manufacturer in sub-series folder.

File contains Ryerson Campaign materials including invitations, brochures, booklets, correspondence, architectural drawings, an itinerary, a mug, and a sweatshirt. The mug was presented to telephone canvassers after they raised $10 000 and the sweatshirt, after $25 000.

R.I.T. frosh beanies

One beanie made of blue felt with small brim and gold and white "RIT" in felt letters on front.
This beanie would have been worn by a first year student during Initiation when Frosh were required to perform acts, such as shine shoes or sing at the command of other students and often in costume.
