DVD contains 4 segments filmed for the Alan Nursall Experience as featured on the television show "Daily Planet". All segments feature Ryerson engineering students and were filmed in May of 2011. The first segment had students testing the Rapunzel theory in the RAC. The second segment had the students testing the best way for an egg to fall - testing the Humpty Dumpty theory. The third segment featured porridge and heat conduction - based on the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. The final segment featured a flying carpet - like Aladdins and had students learning about a hovercraft device. The Humpty Dumpty segment was the only one that aired.

Two copies of small poster advertising for the workshop "Marketing Workshop for Hotel Students" given by the Hotel Sales Management Association - Ryerson chapter. The workshop was held Dec. 2, 1972 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

File contains the itinerary for the February 20-29, 1976 trip by Ryerson Hospitality students to Jamaica. Included in the file is a newspaper clipping with photograph of the students arriving in Jamaica.

One copy of a report researched and created by Ryerson Hospitality student Paul Gauntley to create a student volunteer catering service for palliative care patients at St. Michael's Hospital. The report was submitted to Ryerson President Brian Segal for approval to create the program.
The program went into practice in October of 1986. Included in the file is a copy of a newspaper article talking about the program.

File contains a news release about and photograph of Ryerson 4th year Hotel and Tourism management student Hyacinth Seon. She was chosen as Ms. HostEx '75 for the Canadian Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show.

File contains 2 surveys created and administered by students in the Hotel and Restaurant program. The first survey was given to day students at the school and concerned their drinking habits in relation to specific locations. The second survey deals specifically with The Colonial Tavern which used to be located at 201-203 Yonge Street.

File contains awards programmes and tickets for the annual ceremonies held in the fall. Programmes are included from the Hotel, Restaurant, Institutional Administration Department, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management ceremonies.

"Blurb" was a newsletter put out by Ryerson's chapter of the Society of Hosts. It seems to have ended in 1973 and then was brought back in 1980 for two editions.

File contains memos, correspondence, and announcements for the Society of Hosts. Included is a memo about the Nickelodeon birthday party, a wine and cheese party, bartender service letter, and an introductory letter to members of the Society.

The Society of Hosts was and international organization for students in Hotel and Hospitality programs. Ryerson had a chapter of the organization, and all of its Hotel (HRIA) and later Hospitality (HTM) students were members. The society does not appear to exist any longer.
The sub-series consists of correspondence and newsletters from Ryerson's chapter of Society of Hosts.

This file contains a 1977 Hospitality Placement Center promotional calendar and three copies of the "Job Seekers Bulletin" - one each for 1970, 1971, and 1973. The job seeker's bulletin features head shots and information about Ryerson Hospitality graduates. The class of 1970 bulletin was published in "Canadian Hotel and Restaurant Magazine" December 15, 1969 edition. These appear to be the pre-cursor to "Face of our Future" graduate publication put out by the school.

This file contains a detailed Plan for RPI Tavern Facilities by "Factor Consultants". The plan, a student project created in written form only for course CMN 112, including drawings, description, furniture, drapery material and carpet samples, policies, correspondence and inventory sheets.

The Hospitality Management Development program began in 1982 when Ryerson began offering seminars based on restaurant and hotel simulation games. The seminars are led by industry leaders and academics. Included in the file is a brochure for the May 5-7 and May 12-14, 1983 Restaurant Management game seminar; two brochures for the 1985 Hospitality Management Development Programme seminars held from January to March of that year; and one folder with details about the Hospitality and Tourism Management Development seminar program held between March and November of 1986.

Audio-cassettes recorded at the 1983 Hospitality Update student conference held January 28 and 29. The January 29 recordings appear to have been done in two different locations.

File contains brochures for the 1966 and 1971 short courses. The 1966 course was the 9th annual one and was held November 21-22. The theme for the course was "Increasing Employee Productivity" and was led by Travis Elliott and George D. Bedell. The 1971 course was the 14th annual one and was held November 22-23. The theme was "Management Planning for Productivity". The guest lecturers were Vance A. Christian, Atid Kaplan, Douglas Snedden, George M. Horn, and A. H. Calvert.

Photostated copy of "Good Waitress Service!" authored by Ethel A. DeMings, former head of the Institution Management course at what was then the Ryerson Institute of Technology. The pamphlet was distributed by the Canadian Restaurant Association.
