It was installed in building #3 of the Kodak Heights plant in 1915 for making photographic emulsion for black and white paper and was used until 1974. The kettle was used to make the first photographic emulsion produced in Canada and was referred to as the "making kettle".

Other images are still lifes of coloured umbrellas, chalk, and casino lights taken at night. As well as two commercial 'beauty' shots of two women.
