Sawyer's View Master 3D viewer (Model C)

Item is a handheld plastic black Model C View-Master 3D viewer manufactured by Sawyer's Inc. from the mid-1940's to mid-1950's. This model was the first of its kind to have a slot for reels to be placed in for viewing. The metal lever on the side of the viewer will rotate the reel one frame at a time once pressed. First, reels are inserted through the top of the viewer. Next, user would look through binocular eye holes to see a three dimensional image. View-Master can be used with ambient light. The light attachment bulb came as a later edition for the View-Master Model C. Attachment was screwed onto viewer with push down red button that switches bulb on and off. Item also comes with 1 reel of 7 diametrical, 16 mm black and white transparencies of World War 2 battle scenes.

3D stereobox stereoscopic viewer

Item is a green plastic view master with original box packaging. Three-dimensional colour transparency reel depicts frontier puppets. Reels are interchangeable. Reels are inserted into the top of the view master and switched by the plastic push down lever on the side.

Self-Published Stereographs (Single-Sided)

File contains double-sided stereographs (with images on both sides of the card) that depict buildings, animals and people at the beach, a lake, a creek bank, an island in the middle of a lake with a person on it a street scene, an Indigenous Person and Paul Wing Jr.

Departmental display boards

Seven oversized foamcore boards with photographs, text, and newspaper clippings on them. The boards are titled: Awards night; [Hotel students' associations]; [laboratory work]; Ryerson of the Past; The Beginning; Bake Shop 1950's; [Visitors?].

Media Centre photographs

Primarily 35mm negative strips and corresponding contact prints of various people, places and activities at Ryerson. Photography is believed to have been taken mainly by head photographer Chris Bell. The negatives and contact prints are maintained in their original chronological and numerical order.

Advisory Committee (incl. Norman Jewison) photograph

File contains photographs of the members of the Film and Photography (now Image Arts) Advisory Committee in the mid-1980s, including famed film producer and director, Norman Jewison. Included are files on who is who and a brief description of Norman Jewison.

Ryerson Presidents' photographs

File contains one b&w photograph of Ryerson president Terry Grier and six photographs of Ryerson president Walter Pitman. All photographs are mounted on foamcore.

Negatives & Contact Prints: Student Assignments

This collection represents the blending of a large group of student photography assignments, comprised of black and white photographs and contact sheets from several accessions. The negatives and contact sheets are filed alphabetically, by the photographer's surname, except for a small group which is filed by subject. In addition, there is a small group of unidentified negatives and contact sheets.

Athletics Award night

Sub-series contains photographs taken at the annual Athletic Awards ceremonies. They have been divided into files by year.

Varsity Team portraits, 2000-2001

Team photographs of Ryerson's Interuniversity teams. Included are portraits of the men's volleyball team, women's volleyball team, men's squash team, women's soccer team, men's soccer team, men's hockey team, men's badminton team, women's badminton team, figure skating team and fencing team.

University of British Columbia

File contains photograph of the Ryerson Rams women's basketball team against the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds. Game took place in the Kerr Hall gym.

Lisa Greig

File contains photographs of Ryerson Rams women's basketball team player Lisa Grieg on the court in various games. Lisa was on the basketball team between 2003 and 2007.

University of British Columbia

Athletics team season photographs 2015-2016

File contains photographs taken of Interuniversity teams at different games, matches, and some team photos. Included are women's hockey, men's hockey, women's basketball, men's basketball, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer and badminton. They were potentially used for the 2015-2016 athletic banquet.

Team photo binders

Subseries contains photographs removed from Athletics and Recreation binders. Binders were divided by year and this organization have been maintained. Photographs include team and action shots for badminton, squash, figure skating, fencing, swimming, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's hockey, women's soccer, and men's soccer.

Mounted Photograph: PEBBLES Program Donation

Colour photograph mounted on wood base (28cm x 35cm). Photo is of President Claude Lajeunesse accepting a cheque from Wayne Gretzky in the amount of $50,000, on behalf of the Bay as part Ryerson's PEBBLES Program. Also in the photograph, standing next to C. Lajuenesse, is Administration & Information Mangement Faculty member and Director of the Centre For Learning Technologies, Deborah Fels, who developed the program.

[Photographs from a Kodak No. 1 camera]

Item consists of twelve snapshots taken with the Kodak No. 1, the first rollfilm camera under the name "Kodak". Subjects include a house in a forest, a group of women posing in front of the house, a man walking by the house, cows, and men playing cricket or baseball. The images are round on a white background with a black border and gold gilded edges. On the back of one photograph is handwritten in pen "Set 2.00" on a piece of masking tape.

First visit to Canada

Item is a photograph of a building and two blurry figures in foreground. Inscription in black ink on back of photograph reads, 'First visit to Canada and (illegible) of Edward Prince of Wales, 1919.', written over illegible inscription in pencil.

Big Bird 3D camera viewer

Item is a blue plastic camera shaped three-dimensional viewer. The 3D viewer has a built-in reel of 7 diametrical, 16 mm colour transparencies of Sesame Street characters teaching the alphabet. Unlike traditional View-Masters, this reel cannot be removed. A small Big Bird with his own camera sits on top of the body of the viewer. This object was designed for children's entertainment and education. A orange push down button on the front of the camera is used to switch scenes. Written on the front of the camera is the Sesame Street Logo.
