Physical Plant staff (ROSOTF donation)

Physical Plant staff help raise funds for the student award. The following people who were on the team, John Pike, Seng Kho, Raf Ednacot, Sam Chalmers, Sabur Pathan, Vito Florio and Peter Callis. From Forum April 11, 1997 page 2.

Photographs relating to Egerton Ryerson

File contains photographs relating to Egerton Ryerson. Included are a photograph of the marble Ryerson bust, a copy of a photograph of Egerton Ryerson from the 1850s, two photographs from Egerton Ryerson's 177th birthday party March 24, 1980, and a photograph from the Heritage Day reception March 24, 1982. Also included are many photographs of the Egerton Ryerson statue on Gould Street.

Photographic assignments

Series contains images taken by University Advancement photographers. They cover a wide range of subjects including campus events, staff and faculty portraits, donor receptions and building demolition and construction. A majority of the images were taken for the purpose of publication in the University Advancement publication "The Forum".

Philip Coppack

File contains photographs of Ryerson Geography professor Philip Coppack. Some of the photographs are head shots and other are with students in a classroom at a computer.

PhD students - Ryerson's first

File contains photographs of the first students and faculty in the new PhD program - Communication and Culture. It is a joint program with York University. Photographs were taken on the steps leading to Kerr Hall. Included in the pictures are Elizabeth Seaton, acting director of the program at York; Ruth Panofsky, associate director of program at Ryerson; Don Gillies, former associate director of the program; Simon Enoch; Wasim Ghani; Peter Ryan, Lori Anne Cooke-Scott. File of photographs of two Ryerson professors. Perry Schneiderman is a Theatre School faculty member and school chair, and Ziad Saghir is a Mechanical Engineering faculty member. Two of the photographs were published in the October 2000 edition of the FORUM.

Pebbles/Gretsky/The Bay Reception

PEBBLES - Providing Education by Building Learning Environments to Students. Wayne Greztky and in collaboration with The Bay presented Ryerson University with a cheque for $50,000.00 as part of the funding for the PEBBLES project.

Parking lot - Dalhousie and Gould streets

File contains photographs of the parking lot that used to be located on Gould Street between Church and Dalhousie Streets. That location is now the site of the George Vari Engineering building. Picture from file featured in the March 2000 edition of the FORUM.

Panasonic Kid Witness News program tour

File contains photographs taken during Panasonic's Kid Witness News program's tour of the Rogers Communication Centre. The tour included 200 grade 5 and 6 students from schools across Southern Ontario that were given digital video equipment by Panasonic. They came to Ryerson to learn about all aspects of television broadcasting. Picture from file was featured in the March 2002 edition of the FORUM.

Pam Seatle - Arts and Culture Career Fair

One strip of five negatives taken during the Arts and Culture Career Fair at Ryerson. Three of the photographs feature Pamela Seatle, a Citytv reporter who opened the fair, talking at the microphone. The other two show an unidentified man, and an unidentified woman speaking at the microphone. One of the photographs of Pam Seatle was used in the April 2000 FORUM.

POA Educational Foundation

File contains taken at an unidentified event involving the POA Foundation at Ryerson University. The POA Foundation is a charitable foundation founded in 2002 by Aditya Jha. They created an endowment fund at Ryerson to support 5 scholarships in Engineering, Business, and Community Services. The scholarships are as follows: The Aditya Jha Graduate Diversity award; The Aditya Jha Undergraduate Diversity award (2); The Aditya Jha Undergraduate Entrepreneurship award; and the Aditya Jha Community Development award.

PEBBLES project

File contains photographs taken during two different photo shoots of the PEBBLES monitor and of children using the monitor and computer. Also included in the file is information on the unit and project as well as photocopies of news articles about the project.

PEBBLES and Wayne Gretzky at The Bay

File contains photographs taken at The Bay's launch of the Wayne Gretzky fashion collection and its support of PEBBLES (Providing education by bringing learning environments to students). PEBBLES was designed by Ryerson's Centre for Learning Technologies, Telbotics Inc., and the Adaptive Technology Resource Centre at the University of Toronto. It was a video teleconferencing unit that could connect hospitalized children with the classroom. $1 from every clothing purchase would be donated to PEBBLES. Featured in the photographs are then president Claude Lajeunesse, Wayne Gretzky, his wife Janet Jones, and Ryerson professor Deborah Fels. Pictures from the file were printed in the October 5, 1998 edition of the FORUM. Included in the file are brochures about PEBBLES, a press kit about the launch, and advertisements for the Wayne Gretzky collection.

Open House - Ryerson 50th Anniversary

File contains photographs taken during Ryerson's 50th anniversary open house. Pictures taken during the various demonstrations and events that occured that day. Also included in the file are programs and information sheets from the event.

Open College - Staff: Friesen/Black

Cate Friesen the host of Absolutely Folk and Kai Black the host of Music without Borders were part of the programming on Saturdays from 12-3 pm on CJRT-FM. Coverage of their works were documented in Listeners Network (The Open College Newsletter)/Winter 1998 Vol.4 no.3.

RG 395.68.03 2001 - (2) large flags for exterior flag pole and (2) flags - both sets are white background with "Ryerson University" under the coat of arms. "University" is in a lighter blue colour.

Office of Equity, Harrassment, and Safety Services

File contains photographs pertaining to the Office of Equity, Harassment, and Safety Services staff and initiatives. Included in the file are photographs of Ryerson's December 6th memorial service; Security Officers on bikes; the Equity Wammo game; an office display; and Lesbian and Gay positive space signs.

Off campus

File contains photographic slides taken around Toronto. Subjects include: Queen's Park; Bay Street skyscrapers; TTC streetcar along Dundas St.; Chinatown; C. N. Tower; Rogers Centre (Skydome); Yonge and Dundas; Sam the Record Man; Eaton Centre; and aerial skyline photographs.

Oakham House cook - Tony Castillo

Several pictures of Tony Castillo, Oakham House cook. His picture appeared in Forum because he helped a man find his lost wallet. The man who happen to be a lawyer at the firm Miller Dallas Inc. wrote a letter to Claude Lajueness and Mayor Barbara Hall congratulating Tony Castillo for his kindness and actions he took in finding this wallet. Nutrition, Consumer, and Family Studies (NCFS) students and alumni

Nursing Honour Society

Ryerson School of Nursing inaugural induction ceremony, May 29, 1997, inducted the first members into its Honour Society in recognition of excellence in research, practice and scholarly activity. The standing-room-only induction ceremony in May saw 163 individuals become members, including faculty, alumni, students and nursing leaders from the professional community. Janice Waddell ( co-chair steering committee) read the opening remarks and welcome, Sue Williams (Director School of Nursing) said the welcoming remarks, Judith Sandys (Dean) more greetings and remarks.
